Got equipment, ready to go...

Hi all,

Thanks to all the help here, I can now proudly edit my signature to show I've got one piece of kit... a binocular!

I've read the book Stargazing with Binoculars, coupled with the IFAS Handbook and planetarium app on my Galaxy Tab, I should be ready to start observing stuff...

I've cross checked what's viewable from my location, bearing in mind light pollution et al (backyard viewing in the city...)

Once I got a clear sky and time that is!

With regard to Stellarium, yes I've got it installed. However from reading some other posts I've also started to use Sky Chart/Cartes du Ciel. It seems slightly more technical, just as easy to use though.

Not tried skychart_3.2-source. yet. Will have to give it a go if i can get it to install

You'll not regret it. On my first go I was able to find a double star that is invisible to naked eye from my backyard!

well done on mastering sigs. I still haven't a clue. and well done for mastering bino's even the smallest jump around for me like a live chicken on a hotplate.
