  1. The range of mags you're looking at seem fine to me. I'd avoid a 10mm Plossl, as the eye relief is unlikely to be very comfortable and go for a BST Starguider 8 or 12mm - very good VFM eyepieces. In fact, I'd recommend them for all three.
  2. I'm sure you won't regret it. The illustrations take a little time to get used to, but it's worth it.
  3. Hehe....that has to be the quote of the day! 😆😆😆
  4. "Yes, Officer, I have this terrible weakness for nubile blondes hanging upside down in their bedrooms!"
  5. Entertaining, SUM. I had a horrible feeling you were nearly arrested for voyeurism! I always feel a trifle uncomfortable setting up in my back garden....
  6. I've gone overkill....I'm getting a Rigel and already have a RDF (different scopes) and they use the same batteries. So I've bought eight of them and put two in my EP case. Hopefully, I'll never have that problem. I'll just find something else to forget!
  7. I seem to have acquired a taste for both.....😆
  8. It's handy to remember both figures for future calculations, plus focal lengths for eyepieces. These allow you to calculate eyepiece magnification, eye relief, etc.
  9. @SuburbanMak Do tell us about your 'brush with the Hampshire constabulary'!
  10. I have the 6mm UW 68° LER version, bought as a stopgap while I was waiting for a 5mm Pentax and I have to say it's a cracker and well worth the price.
  11. I bought a new marine aquarium with a glossy piano white cabinet. The first night, the wretched feline had clawed the doors.....😡
  12. ....if you say so.....there again, I never trust cats! 😄
  13. Excellent! I'm not convinced I'd let that cat anywhere near it, though. My partner's cat just loves new wood to sharpen its claws on.....😡
  14. Everything else looks gorgeous, though. More pix please!
  15. I don't think I'd be quite so philosophical, Simon! Surely they should have a spare mirror they could send out by return? Clive
  16. Oh no, really heartbreaking, Simon. I can guess how much you were looking forward to this day. Hope it gets sorted out quickly for you.
  17. Sorry, Jim, but "shifting" is actually a present participle adjective. 😆😆😆
  18. That's the nautical term....whether it has another name on dry land, I have no idea!
  19. Thanks for that, Andrew. I'll add it to the fat and rapidly-growing file: "Things that make no sense to Clive".
  20. Question: have you also considered an alt/az mount? A lot easier to use unless you have future ambitions to become an astrophotographer......if so, I hope you have deep pockets! 😆
  21. Wow, long story. I love the scope: it's given me many hours of observing pleasure. Pros: a great all rounder - I've viewed everything from the moon and planets to double stars, distant nebulae and galaxies. With decent eyepieces, the sky is very literally the limit! very light and easy to store away and deploy - grab and go. Cons: the focuser is a bit of an acquired taste and benefits from being fettled with some PTFE tape collimation (as with most Newtonians) is important and can be fiddly. Overall, I could have chosen a much worse scope than that to start with. Having said all that, I'm upgrading it already to something bigger and better (a StellaLyra 8" dob). 😄 The 150p has stimulated me to want to see even more!
  22. Hi from another old bloke who's only had his first scope for three months......also, coincidentally, a 150p but the Flextube dob version
