  1. Probably getting it on Wednesday.🤫 I think I've got a bargain after all of you guys on here have been giving me advice and info
  2. I'll clean it up, that's half the fun 'minting' it
  3. I asked and he just hadn't put the spreader on for the pics. It's there
  4. It has been reduced in price already. I will be paying fuel costs for him to bring it so he's not too desperate. If you look at the package as separates, I don't think £500 is too bad, as I was going to buy a better mount anyway so the fact it's a goto is a bonus. So is the concensus from those in the know that this is a good buy?
  5. Guy wants to bring it to me, and has all of the accessories. Mount itself no problem, just want to make sure the goto works This is it
  6. Did notice that when I stripped the mount on my Astronaster 130eq that the grease was very thick, and not what I would suggest makes for easy movement. Replaced with Lithium grease, but still, it's agricultural so only slight improvement.
  7. Does this have to be done on most EQ5's?
  8. At a push, a local machine shop could ream the bearing holes out for you. By your location, there used to be a few around there.
  9. Have to try and work out a fix for that, or bite the bullet and buy a Telegizmo
  10. This happened to me with a used Nextstar 4SE ten years ago. Probably accounts for the fact I lost interest then, and am coming back now with a little bit more disposable income (well the wife has) to take it back up.
  11. Only potential problem is if there's any electronics on the setup, then any moisture could wreck them. Other advantage to the Telegizmo is the foil lining, which being a Yorkshireman would look to use an emergency foil blanket first before putting the cover on. If only I was rich enough to have an observatory
  12. What kind of cover did you use? I've just bought a big barbecue cover for my setup, and allegedly its windproof, waterproof, UV resistant etc. Only thing showing is the last few inches of the tripod feet. Air looks like it will circulate so that can't be bad.
  13. It does look like a bit of a beast. Definitely the older model, which I presume will be the same one as in alacants' post, and camera looks tiny fixed to it, so this would definitely be an astrophotography platform. Could use the 130 on it as well I'm still sat on the fence with this. Is this one of those too good to be true moments which turns out to be exactly that? Only way to find out is to go and see it, which is a 3 hour round trip.
  14. So might be a potential purchase. It has the Bresser go-to system which I believe is based on the Meade system. It does appear to be a good deal, but looks like it is the older unit and doesn't have the Hexafoc.
  15. Think what I need is practice, practice, in daylight to start with LOL. Hopefully sort collimation out tomorrow.
  16. Messaged the seller and reply is It's a Bresser Messier AR-127S/635 EXOS-2/EQ5 Telescope Scope size is 6inch with 26mm Super Plössl eyepiece with extra lenses
  17. Maybe I'll get lucky and find a bargain near me
  18. Thanks Astro_Dad Was thinking of a MC102 or 127 myself. As you've said it's choosing the right mount. The Skywatcher wi fi system looks ok and is relatively cheap as a package. Decisions decisions
  19. Thanks for the replies. Might message the seller and get a bit more info re. age and actual model
  20. Oops Just used search on here and found a couple of posts. Seem reasonable scopes for the money. Still interested to hear owners views.
  21. Anyone got one? One near me with EXOS2 mount and motor drives for £500. Would I be better of getting something else as can't find much about them on the web.
  22. You've just persuaded me to think about ditching the Newtonian on EQ. Just been outside, lovely starry night, disaster. Only beginning but it kept getting caught on cables then I undid the wrong bolt thinking I might help the movements and tube fell off. Collimation gone. Back to the drawing board
  23. Well nice starry night here tonight. Had already set up telescope (allegedly). First of all, miles out from Polaris, so thought get it close and just see what's about. Doing a little bit of looking around getting used to the mount and controls. Now then this is when I find out I've unloosened the bolt that holds the tube on when it crashes to the floor. TBH, was having difficulty in moving scope around anyway which just gives creedence to my thoughts on the mount that comes with the scope. So onto FLO to see what the wife can afford LOL Definitely a newbie.
