  1. Smartphone Astrophotography - Orion Nebula

    It was my first time imaging DSO. I'm quite surprised with the performance of this smartphone (Please ignore the weird star shape lol)

    Equipment: SW 130pds, EQ5 with AZ-EQ5 pier tripod plus Onstep (for tracking), GSO 32mm ep

    Camera: Huawei P40 Pro

    210 X 10s exposure, ISO 400

    Pleiades, 4 hours integration

    Equipment:

    130PDS + EQ3 Pro + EOS 1200D (full spectrum mod + L2 Filter)

    It is really challenging to process.

    Normally i use Starnet++ to remove Stars, process the nebula and add stars later. This was literally impossible for me with this target

    Awesome picture! What software did you use to process this image? Is it Photoshop or PixInsight?

  3. I've just received my new telescope 2 months ago and this was my second attempt to take pics of the Moon. I decided to combine it together with my previous shot of the full moon last month and to create a HDR Moon.

    Telescope: Sky-Watcher Explorer 130PDS

    Mount: Sky-Watcher EQ5 with AZ-EQ5 pier tripod

    Eyepiece: GSO Super Ploss 15mm

    Camera: Huawei P40 Pro

    Hope u all like it :)

    Hi everyone

    We'd not given the 130 an airing for some while. Shame on us.

    This is 3 hours before the Mediterranean haze caused the EKOS scheduler (and for quite different reasons, us!) to give up.

    Thanks for looking.

    700d on 130pds @ ISO800

    Wow beautiful! Wonder what's the name of this target?

    Edit: Wondering is your 700d modded?

  5. For DSOs imaging, an EQ mount is definitely better than an AZ mount.

    For the 130pds and EQ3 Pro, I think the 130pds should be fine on a EQ3 Pro. That's also the set up that I'd considered to get before. But after some consideration, I made the final decision to get an EQ5 instead since you'll also have to consider the weight after adding in the camera, guide scope, guide camera, cables etc.

    Finally finished this - a four-pane mosaic going from the North America Nebula across to the Pelican Nebula. Culmination of the past 8 clear nights, and literally hours and hours of trying to  get it to work. I've never done a mosaic of a nebula before and it was a very steep learning curve (yes, another one).
    * 17:39 hours of integration at ISO800 from 120x120s + 37x180s + 177x240s subs, over 8 nights
    * Bortle 4 sky, Moon average 60% phase, 27° height
    * Calibration: 25 flats, 25 dark flats, 50 darks
    * Hardware: Sky-Watcher 130PDS scope (F5), Sky-Watcher NEQ6 mount, Canon EOS1000D DSLR camera with IR filter removed, Sky-Watcher 0.9x coma corrector, Datyson T7C guide camera, Angel Eyes 50mm guide scope
    * Software: Polar alignment with SharpCap Pro, guiding with PHD2, capture with Astrophotography Tool (APT), stacking with Deep Sky Stacker (DSS), post-processing with StarTools, Photoshop CS2, Affinity Photo and Topaz Denoise AI

    OMG! This is the definitely the best North America Nebula I've ever seen! Can I use it as a wallpaper for my tablet and PC? XD

  7. Not perfect but it's my very first time doing it!

    1st picture consists of 3 separate images. All taken with Huawei P40 Pro.

    2nd picture also consists of 3 separate images. Paddy field taken with iPhone 5 while the night sky and the Milky Way are taken with Huawei P40 Pro.

    Both edited in Snapseed.

    Any comments and feedbacks are welcomed! I hope to improve more in doing composite!
