Just watched the ISS pass between the Moon and Jupiter, anyone else spotted this tonight.
-
Can't get it to install on my Windows 10 Laptop .. I think it's due to missing .dll files according to an error pop up on screen.

Sorry I meant, dovetail for the scope, not mount....
I have a budget of around £500 so think that might not be enough for all the bits, Also need to decide if the upgrade will give me much better images (I have included a few of my images). I would like to get a decent image of Saturn and Jupiter.

Hi,
You'll probably get a few responses but thought I'd say hello.
I have the SW 72ED and a Canon 500D therefore the camera model is different but setup potentially very similar.
Are you just starting out?
No, been stargazing for around 3 years now, but never had a telescope only been using my Sigma 150-600mm C lens but want to upgrade to a decent scope..
-
Hi... Does anybody use the above equipment as I'm thinking of getting the 72ed to use with my Canon 70D camera.
-
Thanks Alan ... I'll give that a look.

I have taken some video of the moon, whats the best way to extract a stacked single image from it and with what software please.
Thanks Paul

Is it possible to get a good image of Jupiter and Saturn with a 500mm lens and Dslr camera using the Az-Gti in Alt-Az mode.?
-
Hi.... Alt-Az mode question ..... I have leveled my mount and pointed north, chose a star from 1 star (e.g Mizar) now is it best to use sidereal tracking or point and track.
Thanks Paul.

The lever is a very common thing in videography for focus pulling. From my use with all sorts of lenses both old and modern it's not really necessary though for star focussing, you can always reduce slight star bloat post process.
Thank you Elp, what software do you use for this?

Ak ok... I see now ... thanks for your replies and help on this.

Sorry excuse my ignorance .... a lever on what and how.

My (limited) experience with camera lenses says that you need a micro-focus to avoid going mad. Mechanical ones are available from Telescope Service. Alacant's point above makes sense, though.
Just putting an improvised lever on a lens or focuser can also help with micro-adjustment.
Olly
How do you mean an improvised lever ?

So focusing with the mask will leave you with coloured halos around bright stars. Use it to get you close, then lose it.
Now, using zoomed in live view on the same star, adjust in tiny amounts until the blue [1] halo just disappears.
Cheers and HTH
[1] not familiar with the 600 so the residual halo may be red; same idea.
Sorry dont fully understand your answer, If I lose the mask then I will lose the coloured halo's wont I ....
Also the Sigma lens is the 150-600mm f5-6.3 C lens.

Thank you for the replies.
Yes it's quite difficult to fine tune the focus on my Sigma lens as just the slightest touch sends it way out.

Or do I need to get it spot on .....
Canon 80D 600mm f5.6
Thanks
-
Thanks Chewie65 .. actually that is something that I was thinking of trying, just need some dark skies to test it out .... need to see if I fit my batinov mask will the spikes show when zoomed in.
-
@ONIKKINEN .. I have downloaded NINA but it won't recognise Canon cameras, only nikon in the drop down list.
UPDATE ... OK eos utility was stopping it from seeing my Canon, removed Eos and my canon now in the list.
-
Ok thanks again, I will have a play and see what I can achieve, just need the skies to clear of these pesky clouds.

@ONIKKINEN .. What progs or software will read and show the HFR, as I may be able to use a computer via wi/fi to remote my camera.
-
@ONIKKINEN .. I'm using AZGTi in eq mode ... so do you sugest I do the 2 or 3 star alignment for polar without worrying too much on the focus, and then slew to a bright star closest to my intended target and do the focus only then.
-
Canon 80D and 600mm lens ... and not using computer
-
Thank you for the replies, I will focus on the moon (edge probably) lock focus to that and then fit my batinov mask, take a shot and zoom into my image and see if the line is central.
