It has the potential to be a very good eyepiece. Would definitely consider replacing my Baader zoom if the reviews/reports are good. The Leica always sounded great but very expensive.
How much do you use your BHZ Neil ?

Hey mate ! Get your scope , flee to the deep space , put all your pain and hardship into the great Hercule cluster and hop through the virgo cluster .
But don't forget to get down to Earth again 😁 .

Good one Scott ! 😂

A good tip I would like to share here - While trying to split Antares , try a UHC . I've read numerous reports saying it helps .

If this has the optical performance qualities of the Morpheus and achieves the other characteristics that APM specify, I think it will fly of the shelves at that price.
I am imagining a set comprising the APM XWA 20mm, an APM Super Zoom and a Powermate or similar quality barlow / extender. Could be all an observer needs ?
For the SCT / Mak-Cassegrain user, just the 20mm and the zoom.
Well John , knowing your affinity for EPs , I just saw your older posts with respect to your Leica zoom and the Baader VIP Barlow. It's funny how you mention the same thing now in the APM zoom 😁 . This may again turn out to be a expensive exercise ....
And @Littleguy80 , here's one of the man you said who use(s) fixed FLs even when donning the Leica and a world class Barlow in VIP . 👍

I expected this you know . Ordering an eyepiece and waiting is worse than infected with CoViD 19 .

Don't hold your breath . They say it may hit the market in June but these are crazy times and they may even be delayed by months .

Coincidently a few days ago I imaged (using the term very loosely!) M3 with a dslr & Skymax 102. Stacked from 10 x 8 second subs. Now the picture is a poor shadow of a dso image however it's just about how M3 looks in a 8" reflector under quite severe light pollution i.e. bortle 7/8 sky quality 18.8ish.
This quite nicely matches my experience of M4 with my 8" 👍 , though at low power.

Back to OP's original query, have you received your 30mm APM UFF?
Now ?

@Commanderfish , if you only use the 76mm Tak for widefields , then why not get a good 72mm fpl-53 triplet ? I believe the tak and the triplet would be indistinguishable in wide fields . Where the Tak comes up victoriously is in high power planetary/lunar and double stars . But I see your mild case of takitis 🤣 .

Has the wife ever noticed it in there? I know I can obscure new items in my garage pretty easily because it's rather cluttered.
Tea party ?

Certainly Fozzie. I use a Baader Maxbright Binoviewer, a x2 Celestron X--Cel LX barlow, 24mm Kyson Orthos and 16.8 Kyson Orthos. Because of the binoviewer factor, the magnification of each pair of eyepieces is x4 that of using them as single eyepiece. I sometimes use x3 barlow of the same make, but only if I need more magnification and the seeing is very good - not very often with the seeing I generally have alas 🙂.
PS Forgot to mention. I use a Baader T2 BBHS prism, with 2inch nosepiece which gives a far more secure connection - particularly when using the binoviewer angled out at the side.
Cool Paul ! Can you show us your setup with bver attached ? ( Send us the setup while you observe the moon not to make my request hijack your thread 😎 .)

Hi Nicola,
I'm not sure why you'd have that focusing problem. I know my Tak prism has a shorter light path than my Baader Zeiss 1.25" BBHS prism, and I had little difficulty with my FC100DC attaining focus. A 2" diagonal might be problematic with some eyepieces. If Jeremy or others with experience of your scope can't advise, you could e-mail FLO to see if they can help.
OP..... I'm sry 😢
Mike , did you prefer prism or mirror with your DC ?

I took delivery of two more cases today, one very small which will house a small “lightweight” set of Plossls and Orthos... will sort that out later in the week and post a photo.
The big case I already have, now holds the set of Pentax XWs (30, 20, 14, 10, 7, 5 and 3.5) and a few other selected 1.25” eyepieces... Delos 14, Panoptic 24 and 15, ES 4.7 82, Baader Morpheus 17.5, Genuine Ortho 12.5, Classic Ortho 6, Hyperion 2.25x Barlow, ES Focal Extender 2” 2x and 1.25” 2x, plus a couple of filters.
Newly added today, is a medium size case, which holds just the “dob” set... Ethos (21, 13, 8, 6 and 3.7) and Paracorr II.
Seems the plan to have one set, has turned into three sets, but at least they are now better organised 🤣
You sure are a serious patient of this addiction ! I remember how you slowly grew into XWs then a APM 20mm then soon followed 4 Ethos !! ATB in your hobby .

Sure astronomy is a very daunting hobby for a young beginner without his own money ... I will tell my short story lol.
I begged my dad for a year and saved and saved and with some loan ( LOL) I now have my 8" dob 😃. That too with this internet world I seems to get tempted by any post in the forums😂 .

Eyepiece for TS 50mm RACI finder?
in Discussions - Eyepieces

What is your budget ? I've always thought that the 20mm explore scientific 68° is a perfect match with a 50mm finder . If you find gold in your garden's tree , a 16mm Nagler T5 can't be beat .
