  1. Hi I’ve recently acquired the RedCat 51 and I’m thinking about getting a guide scope with guide camera I’ve been looking at this But thought I’d get a second opinion on what to get https://www.firstlightoptics.com/zwo-cameras/zwo-mini-finder-guider-asi120mm-bundle.html
  2. Hi like you I’ve just got the RedCat as being a beginner in this hobby but I think with a guide mount like yours you should be fine up to 2 minutes I think but it may be a good option to look at a guide mount with guide camera this one attached includes a camera and matches the RedCat very well and also it’s not to big for the RedCat. https://www.firstlightoptics.com/zwo-cameras/zwo-mini-finder-guider-asi120mm-bundle.html
  3. Hi all I’m looking for a guide scope to use along side my RedCat 51 (mainly using for DSO’s). I have been looking at these two guide scopes but not sure if the ZWO focal length might be too small. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you https://www.firstlightoptics.com/guide-scopes/william-optics-50mm-slide-base-uniguide-scope-with-125-rotolock.html https://www.firstlightoptics.com/zwo-cameras/zwo-mini-finder-guider-asi120mm-bundle.html
  4. Good luck with your astronomy journey
  5. Hi all i have a canon eos 450d and tonight I was trying to take some photos of the moon whilst using a T-Ring and attaching my camera to my telescope however I could figure out how change the aperture settings as it said F00 and would not let me move it. I’ve found I can only change the aperture when a lens is connected to the telescope. Is there any way to change the aperture when the camera is attached to the telescope via a T-Ring?
  6. Thanks I’m going to watch some of his videos. The mount I would be using is and EQ3 won’t the synscan GOTO handset. I’m thinking the Redcat may be the better option as it will have a wider FOV and may be easier to find objects when starting out
  7. Thanks I think I’m leaning towards the Redcat but then again still not sure as the Zenither would be a bit more zoomed in
  8. Hi all I’m looking for a good telescope for astrophotography to use with my Canon EOS M50 I’ve narrowed it down to the Redcat 51 and the Zenithstar 73. Any ideas which is better? I mainly want to take shots of deep sky objects like M44 and M3 ect
  9. Thanks I’ve had a look on the internet and realise I was wrong in assuming you could use it as a normal telescope. So the options are either using a DSLR like I have or getting a telescope with a bigger FOV like peters or could something like what I have done on this picture work
  10. Having put peters telescope in I’ve found that the FOV must be something around 0.69 x 0.39 (not sure if that is correct) and then looking at this guide scope https://www.firstlightoptics.com/startravel/skywatcher-startravel-80-ota.html the FOV is 1.04 x 0.59. So by looking at this I think (correct me if wrong) the options are getting a guide scope/telescope like that or connecting my DSLR to my eq3 mount in some way. By the way would like to say huge thanks to everyone who inputted and helped along the way.
  11. Thanks I’ll have a look into some books about this
  12. As far as mounts go I have an EQ 3 with the synscan GOTO kit
  13. Thanks, is that to do with your telescope having a wider FOV
  14. Would it best using a guide scope to help with this or is there some way of attaching the camera to the telescope in order to be pointing the camera in the correct direction
  15. Sorry for all the questions but did you have the 385mc attached to the telescope when taking that shot?
  16. So if I got the adapter and attached the 385 MC to the 300mm lens would I then point that through the telescope or just straight at the target?
  17. I have a Canon EOS and I do have a 300 mm lens. I tried the canon last night however with no lens on through the telescope. Do you mean to put the camera with the lens onto the telescope or just point the camera at the clusters ect with no telescope.
  18. With the instructions that came with the camera it says to take the lens off and doesn’t give any sort of adapter to allow you to use the lens. Would something like this work?https://www.firstlightoptics.com/zwo-accessories/guide-scope-bundle-suitable-for-side-by-side-bars-or-guidescope-mounts.html
  19. Hi sorry I’ve re done it and got this it says the FOV is 0.42 x 0.24. Is it a case that I would need a guide scope to be able to capture these sort of images?
  20. Thanks! Sorry I didnt realised you could change it for the camera. I have changed the equipment and it shows this: Also it says the FOV is 0.81 x 0.26
  21. Thanks! I have put in my equipment and so on into the calculator and it’s came up with the attached image. What type of telescope would you recommend?
  22. Thanks! I’m just using the software that ASI cameras come with and I also tried using sharp cap but had no luck
