  1. So I cleaned my Maksutov 127 SLT today and decided to clean the little mirror in the middle inside the cup when removing the corrector, as a result I scratched the little mirror and from what I can remember it was one scratch. Will this make any impact what so ever? Should I be concerned? Cheers William
  2. So I was thinking if I can make a homemade solar filter or get one that is factory made specifically for Canon EF/EF-S camera lenses for taking images of solar eclipses, analemmas, sunrises & sunsets even. Feel free to send me any links to the right equipment and any good inquiries on how to make sun shots safely without any concerns of damaging my camera sensor with the right equipment. Here is examples of what I like to take through my Canon 600D, in addition to 18-55mm lens and 75-300mm lens (hypothetically). Cheers William

  4. So my dad cleaned out the scope again since there was dust in it again, after cleaning the mirror which is the front mirror I found those wipe marks on it on the back side of the glass when it was reassembled. Will this affect on how i can image/observe stars?
  5. Today after saving up £125 and buying it from 'The Widescreen Centre' I got Skywatcher's 3/8" Stainless Steel Tripod. This is for my budget deepsky astrophotography kit.

  8. I probably referring to the mirror I was probably referring to the mirror I’m facing in the image.
  9. My dad used a cloth to clean the optics and a glasses wipe which was not a good idea first hand and upon finishing up the optics were fine. There were bits of remaining dust on the mirrors but not enough to affect the image, what makes it unhelpful is shining a light through your lens which will make it look worse than it already is.
  10. I already gave the telescope a clean weeks ago, like I said earlier it had those smears or whatever on there before cleaning, I was told that it only needs to be cleaned if necessary. If the dust gets very bad then that’s when it needs cleaning, but that’s not my case. So in conclusion is that I don’t need to clean my optics again, since like you said it shouldn’t affect any performance and I’m not even gonna sale my telescope. It is not to the point where it is very dusty and requires cleaning again. So hopefully from what advice I learned from you and others I might be right but correct me if I’m wrong.
  11. Last night I was observing something from my back garden and found out that their are smears/streaks on the primary mirror of my telescope, in fact I have seen this before cleaning it out by disassembling it. I found wipe marks from were I used my glasses wipes to clean the mirror which was not a good idea but just once it was done. Only used a few glasses wipes and then a cloth to clean it. This is only once I cleaned out my optics due to optical fungus in the OTA. As you can see their are these blue smudges or marks from where I wiped the mirror. Will this make any difference? I have taken photos with this problem and doesn't look like my images are affected. But will this affect it at the slightest?
  12. Alright, I am giving myself a final option for my deepsky kit, and here it is. Canon EF 75-300mm Lens Star Adventurer Pro Horizon 8115 Tripod Canon 600D I only expect decent images and not images through your telescope or whatever, I just want detail and decency out of it overall, also I was informed that it is best to keep my focal length at 150mm or lower if optional.
  13. The name of this mount is 'Sky-Watcher EQ3 PRO SynScan Mount', share me your thoughts about this. Thanks, clear skies!
  14. So I called The Widescreen Centre and they said the canon 75-300 lens if not good for astrophotography, so they recommend me to use an apo refractor. I am going for the SW Evostar 72ED Pro. And is that good in addition to the Star adventurer pro?
  15. here is my garden, as you can see there are two concrete patios and two narrow concrete pathways between them
  16. in my garden is 2 patios with 2 other small patios as pathways to the other patios, and inside the patios is the grass, so i can use the concrete patio as that
  17. https://www.firstlightoptics.com/tripods/horizon-8115-2-way-heavy-duty-tripod.html is this what your talking about? if so, if it is sturdy and good enough for the SA pro, then I will be saving up on this 🙂
