That is definitely an improvement. What process did you use to reduce the noise?
I used MultiscaleLineartransform on the Ha component on mine. perhaps not enough.

I have to say I'm not happy with the Ha data overall. I'll probably revisit this as soon as it's in my FOV from my back garden but with 20m exposures

Good stuff. Thank you!

Everything downloaded except Blue for some reason. Strange
Try now

Sure thing,
The HA was taken at a couple of camera angles hence the crop.
Thanks in advance for the assistance.

Afternoon All,
This one has been quite a while in the making as it seemed to get brushed to the bottom of the imaging pile, I finally pulled my finger out and finished off taking the RGB subs for the stars. and couple of extra Ha subs.

what back focus distance did you settle on ?
63.5mm produces a nice flat field for me.

How are you getting on with this camera and filter wheel setup?
I am considering getting this set up. Have you managed to sort everything out?
Yes indeed. It is now fully operational and works really well.
The the main issue with the stars was simply backfocus, the 31mm adapter tht comes with it is just too long for my scope so I had to buy some adapters and m48 spacers.
The second issue I found was that this camera does not like being connected to USB hubs or extension cables, or at least mine didn't.

Afternoon,
Thought I may as well throw my hat in the ring as well.
I used a bit of a custom channel mapping with this one, but it's roughly R=Ha, G=SII, B=OIII
Unfortunately I don't really have a process to share as I tend to just do stuff until I like the look of it.
Final polish was in photoshop which was just some levels, saturation etc.

If you haven't watched this already it should answer all your questions.

Really Really nice! I had no idea there was anything other than Ha in this object. Still collecting data for this one and I will add SII to the mix. Thank you for sharing!

Very nice too, love the star colours and some nice nebulosity showing. This is a hard collection of nebulae/star clusters to frame, I'm currently imaging this myself and am not as happy as I could be with it.

This could be the key, I didn't put in a IP address on the Pi wired connection.
Just looked at my two laptops wifi settings, IPv4 is 192.168.1.xxx (last is different on both) Router is 192.168.1.254
What should I set the LAN wired connection IP's to ? 192.168.2.XX same on the Mac and Pi or 192.168.2.YY on the Pi ?
That's exactly it, just make sure the subnet mask is the same, default is 255.255.255.0

Okay, looks like I have to admit defeat regarding connection with ethernet cable direct.
I've tried this and similar
Problem is Thunderbolt Bridge won't work, LAN 10/100/1000 shows a connection but there doesn't seem to be any traffic, lastly the nmap command this guy uses isn't recognised by Mac Terminal.
Is it possible to connect through an old router ? i.e Pi to router to Mac. Just straight Lan connection not over internet.
Other than that it all seems to work over wi-fi. Trouble is when I get in position in the garden I'll probably have signal difficulties and the Devolo devices I have are not reliable. Hence the need for cable connection.
I'm not a mac guy but I do know a thing or two about networking.
How have you set up the IP addressing on both the mac and the pi?

Could it possibly also be the barlow magnifying the effect of coma? or even affecting the backfocus distance? Do you have any pics taken without the barlow to compare with?
The only reason I ask is that when I use filters I have to account for their thickness in the backfocus calculations, I'm not sure if the same applies to a barlow?
edit, missed that you were usung the mpcc III corrector
-
Hi,
It does seem to be some sort of aberration, what scope/correctors are you using? and also is your camera sensor at the correct backfocus distance? don't worry if you don't know the answe to the last one as we can probably help figure that out.

Calibration and stacking will be no different, the only time I can think of that it changes will be the additional step of combining when using a mono camera which isn't the case here.
