  1. Hi alan Thats the thing i was trying to describe couldn't remember the name off the top of my head. Will look at the cameras you suggested thanks.
  2. Hi Im looking to buy my first dslr. It will be used for nornal and astro and normal photography. I have around 500 -600 to spend on the camera and will be buying used. This will be used on a star adventurer. I was looking at the 700d and the 800d. But i think there was some problems with the 700d or was it the 750d? If there are any other alternatives i should look at please let me know thanks.
  3. Hi. i think the £1000 is set for now but once I get used to everything I’m pretty sure it would increase. I was looking at a small William optic frac but do you think it would be best to start with a nice lease first? I think I’d like to spend the majority of the money on the camera as I would also use it for normal photography which I’m also looking st second hand so don’t mind doing that just as long as it’s in good condition Im ok. Also would be good if I could do both types of shots I isn’t really much help lol thanks for the help
  4. Hi, after a long break from this site and losing my motivation with astronomy all together , I had recently gone on holiday to the south of France and stayed in the mountains near the alps and the skies were really dark so I managed to use my binoculars a couple of times and the views were really amazing so finally my motivation has finally come back and I would like to buy a imaging set up as after taking a lot of photos on holiday has sort of made me want to do Astro imaging. However I am not sure what would be the best for me and also what would be the best way to ease into it? I think my max budget would be around £1000 but I was thinking of going with a star adventurer but was worriers that I would want bigger scope down the line. I don’t really have a place to have a mount permanently set up so I’m not sure if that would be a problem. I also would like to know what would be the best camera choice, I know people say that having a flip out screen is kind of a must. I have read make every-photon count and also other threads but still slightly unsure. Any help is appreciated (sorry if I rambled on )
  5. I forgoten that I had some money left over from a voucher that some one had given me so have used that to get the pro version, thanks for all the help.
  6. I tend to do that as well, when it’s cloudy just like looking at the stuff that I could see next like you said ?. I have just got the interstellarum atlas and was hoping to use it as well as one of the apps.
  7. Hi I currently use stellarium on my iPad along with the free version of Sky Safari. I was just wondering is there a big difference between the pro versions compared to the other two? As im not sure i can justify the price for the pro version but maybe if theres more essential features. Thanks for the help!
  8. Thanks for this Alan, was trying to find a good chair and was trying to find reviews of this one not many came up. as ive been kneeling most of the time when using my dob and was abit awkward in certain positions. Have just ordered it and cant wait for more comfortable observing
  9. A telrad finder, 9x50 raci finderscope and a 28mm 68 ES eyepiece, had a bit of a sending spree this week
  10. A new 18mm 82 degree ES eyepeice also another handle for me to put onto the base of my dob.
  11. An ES UHC and O-III filter and also the other day my new 8 inch dob
  12. Hope you have a great holiday.Hopefully the skies are better across the pond
  13. Well... Thank you for all of the replies it has been quite interesting reading them all. I'm hoping this is just a phase and once there's a clear night again and I am in the right mood I will remember why I got my scope. Granted my setup is probably no where near the cost of some of yours so it's a bit different to compare.
  14. Well I have always been interested in astronomy was mostly reading books but got my first scope beginning of the year. I'm hoping it will change as I said I still love learning about it all so that's still a good sign.
  15. So after the past month ( might be even longer) it has been cloudy basically every night or its raining since the first month I bought my scope I managed to use it a few times but havent since. And now as the skies are getting dark later I no longer feel like going out as I'm just too tired to go out late. Because of these reasons I keep thinking to myself if I have waisted my money on buying a scope. I know this is probably not true and will hopefully pass when I get to use scope again but was wondering if any of you have had this feeling before? I still have my strong interest in astronomy still though
  16. As people have said not much to change/add. Joined last month and everyone’s been extremely helpful. The forum is probably the easiest I’ve used and most active as well. I’ve also enjoyed the new Upcoming events calendar. ??
  17. Don’t know that much about the other scopes but if you want a good scope that does everything then can’t really go wrong with a dob
  18. Have just purchased the az pronto/130p will probably write a review of it when I get the chance so you can see what it’s like.
  19. Here’s a thread that you might be interest in. If you ask @happy-kat he knows more about it all
  20. If you don’t like the 130p flextube on the dobsonian Mount you can always mount it on a tripod.
  21. Hi thanks for the advice, I don’t have any trouble with lights so shouldn’t be that bad but if I do I will consider that option, I think I’m going to buy one everyone has been saying good things about it condsidering the price. I did look at the 130pds and it’s more to do with AP which I’m not really looking to do at the moment. I’ll have a read of you review when I have enough time thanks for the help
