Money? Cost?
Doesn't money come from a tree or out of a machine?😳
On cold clear mornings you can see the glow of the intersections of the interstate highway to the North and South which are illuminated by very tall poles with sodium lamps.
They stretch out for miles both directions.
At least we can somewhat filter out sodium lighting, but LED's and super trooper Halogens, no chance.

I don't have any high power eyepieces at the moment. This set up will be for widefield and terrestrial use for now.

Hi Dave,
Always nice to hear from you. Just getting over a bout of man-flu and us guys know how bad that can be 😉
Excellent news on the Morpheus line. Nothing but good reviews all the way. We will see how the 17.5 goes in my little fast refractors and go on from there. Th 12.5 sounds the business too.
Clear skies,

Thank you for the fast reply. F/5 eh, very nice.

Just wondered if anyone used the Morpheus line of eyepieces in fast refractors... F/5.5 to F/6.6? I have read Bill P's reviews, but nothing mentioned about fast F/5.5 systems. Looking at the 17.5mm first for widefield.
Thanks you,
Glen.

Would it be better just buy APP instead from the start instead of learning DSS then switching? This old brain can only take so much abuse.

A well packaged box (@David Hardie has been having lots of practice 😉) containing a hotech SCT collimator. I finally decided to bite the bullet and get one to try to maximise the views from my C11 (I get too few clear nights to waste time collimating, and I've never really felt I've nailed it!). I understand there's a learning curve on the hotech use, so expect some muttering...... 😉
Thanks David 😁

Now the Borg adapter makes sense 🙂

Thank you. I have been looking at the Skytech CLS.

Perhaps the image is a little large.

Thank you Pierre. At the moment I use Affinity. Still looking for software for stacking. I believe APP is good.

I'm looking for a little help as I'm new to AP, in fact very new. Is it worth picking up a clip-in LP filter for my new Canon 200D unmodified camera? I know visually a Baader Moon and Skyglow really helps. Is there a AP equivalent?
Thank you,
Glen.

Better left out and be read than in a drawer never being read.
Love the hybrid scope.

Well Ive managed to get the scope finished with the carving inscription that my friend asked me to do. I applied 3 coats of yacht varnish. Yacht varnish isn't the nicest finish to apply but it is perfect for the conditions the scope will be under. The first proper collimation went very well. The secondary mirror only needed adjusting away from the spider a little to bring it to the centre of the light path. Its very satisfying when you look in the focuser and see your eye looking back perfectly framed and centred by both mirrors, with the primary centre donut decal bang on your pupil. then put a laser collimator in and its dead centre with no adjustments. I must be doing something right.
I took the scope home last night and set it up outside. I only had a little time to test it out. It wasn't dark but i could see Jupiter and Saturn so those were the targets. I started with Saturn. Saturn and Jupiter were nice and sharp with the 23mm eyepiece considering the planets low locations in the sky. I could make out the Cassini Division and Jupiters belts with one of Jupiters moons just on the edge of the planet. With the 10mm eyepiece both planets were twice the size than when i was using the 23mm eyepiece. The view was a little blurred but that was dew to the altitude of the planets from the horizon. If i get the chance i will test again tonight with darker skies and on some deep sky objects. i want to see the moon through it but that mean being awake at 4 - 5am tomorrow and i have work.
So heres some photos of the scope out in my gazing spot.
Beautiful cabinet work.

I'm not sure but it sounds like the binocular is not collimated to me. Perhaps it could be a prism out of collimation. Is it all binoculars?

Prices go up every year and the margins for retailers are not huge by any means. The weak pound won't help either. A bit of a double whammy.

Thanks John, but I would need it to connect to the reducer/flattener which I have for the scope. I need 55mm focal plane distance.

Does anyone know the flange depth of ZWO cameras. Does it work the same as DSLR's? Do ZWO cameras have different flange depths? sorry for the silly questions I'm just a bit new at the photographic side of astronomy.

Thanks for that.

Morpheus eyepieces in fast refractors?
in Discussions - Eyepieces

Had about 3 hours with wonderful clear skies last night to try out the Morpheus. Everyone was right it is a stunning eyepiece. I particularly liked the neutral tone of the eyepiece. I also liked the M43 extender which really helped with the eye position. I assume the extender can be bought for the other Morpheus in the range? I was surprised just how well it worked with the Sharpstar 61 EDPH. At F/5.5 it's a steep light cone. I see other Morpheus coming this year. More money to FLO😀
Well impressed.
