  1. I'd like to see it in pair with my Starwave 102ED F/11 which has the FPL-51 only, but it's F/11! I watched Moon and Jupiter through that with x320 magnification, unfortunately not in this year yet. ☁️🌧️☁️⛈️☁️🌧️☁️🌧️... 🙁
  2. The 55mm back focus turned into 53mm, so I came back to... ZWO Evoguide 50ED (as my friend called it). 🙂 No more OAG with the FMA230.
  3. I cannot say that the model is made easily... 😄 Thank you.
  4. Thank you. On behalf of the ARI as well. 😊
  5. Hi, It's not entirely about a telescope, which you can directly use for observing or imaging. It's about a model of the one, which is roughly 7 times bigger than you... A few months ago, in cooperation with the Astrophysics Research Institute of Liverpool John Moores University, I started making a model of their New Robotic Telescope. The model is built on a 1:20 scale (the big telescope will have a 4m primary mirror and it will be 12m high) and it's primarily 3D printed with the use of stepper motors, gearing, electronics and some DIY work. It contains the FYSETC S6 v2.1 board with the OnStepX uploaded. After five months from the beginning, the project is finished and I'm pleased to present a YouTube video about the idea and performance. https://youtu.be/j5D-RVV9ovs?si=JxtlbVTc3vi7krKA Recently, I presented it at a Leighton Observatory operated by the Liverpool Astronomical Society and I expect presentations in other places in future. https://telescope.livjm.ac.uk/About https://www.flickr.com/photos/128440352@N06/sets/72157648728872007 https://www.robotictelescope.org https://telescope.livjm.ac.uk/News/#positions
  6. Hi, Last night was quite good, excluding rain at the end...
  7. That's right, none of my 8 forecast programs (including a few ones for astro purposes) gave me a hope today for anything tonight, but it happened!
  8. Yeah, in my case it wasn't a long session, only 1h 50m subs of North America & Pelican. It will take 8 nights this way... 😠
  9. Hi. It's a first time when my 102ED F/11 sits on top of the CGX. I tried to check some new tricks around the Hercules Herschel wedge and the 678MC camera, but clouds covered the sky and it seems an end of the fun.
  10. I believe that the tiny FMA230 can give me a similar satisfaction... 😆
  11. Hi, Nearly 6 weeks after the purchase finally got the first light: my new Askar FMA230. A lot of clouds tonight, but at least a focus point is found and some tests like framing bigger objects are performed. On top of my CGX it looks like...
  12. Hi, A few words from my experience. I stubbornly tried to use the Astroberry on my RPi 4 8GB. I NEVER fully performed a PA, had to use SharpCap Pro. Guiding with PHD2 was poor, I was happy if saw 0.8" total RMS, but usually, it was 1.2-1.8". I have a TP-Link WiFi extender on a kitchen window, so the WiFi signal is very good. But even with that, its VNC was laggy and it often dropped to 16 colours or so. I was very disappointed. A few months ago I moved to ASIair Plus. Of course, I have everything from the ZWO, so I risked nothing. And a miracle had a place! I can control it with no problems at all, though a preview is slower because of 2.4GHz band. Using EXACTLY THE SAME MOUNT I get 0.6" total RMS very often, while 0.8" is like a norm. The PA takes a few minutes and always it's perfect, in range of teens of arcsec. So, what was going on with the RPi? KStars, Ekos and PHD2 configuration was proper, I passed through them many times watching tutorials. I tried the powerline as well, but I found that it doesn't work between different phases. It also doesn't work, if you have an RCD, like I have as a plug of my extension lead. I never tried NINA and I doubt if I will do it. The ASIair Plus finally gave me the expected satisfaction and I can sleep or watch movies during the session instead of observing the behaviour of my setup. I hope you can at least put the RPi aside and try something else.
  13. Please don't understand me wrong, I appreciate your advice. But I already purchased the FMA230 on 27th June and received it last Saturday, 22nd July. So, thanks again.
  14. I believe you. 230mm gives me wider field. I don't calculate degrees, I just use some framing tools to check, what I can image and how much. 😊
  15. Thanks, I know that it's a great APO, but I wanted a wider field for the APS-C. The 300mm would be OK for a full-frame sensor, but if I have to buy something, then definitely prefer to use a cooled ASI2600MC than the modified Canon 6D with that.
  16. Hi, After another try, I gave up. There is still the awful halo everywhere around stars, even with the F/5.6. I have no time for playing with that, I want a clean image to focus on the proper post-processing without continuously solving problems. I decided to move towards a decent scope of around 300mm. I was looking at several scopes from Altair, Sharpstar, WO etc. Then I realized, that to be able to capture many wide and often multiple objects with my APS-C camera I should aim lower than 300mm, so the RedCat 51 and its brothers in other colours were taken into account. Finally, I stopped my search on the Askar FMA230 which of course has 230mm fl and it's F/4.6, not F/4.9 like the RedCat. Now I have it and await a clear sky.
  17. Can you share any pictures taken with that? Something well-known and easy to compare with typical AP. Thanks.
  18. Interesting rig. Could you tell us what's that mount and the rest of the setup?
  19. Hi, Thanks for that. I just ordered the FMA230. It may be useful because I thought I can use my ZWO OAG and ZWO filter drawer, but if it happens and the back focus is also shorter than the 55mm in my case, then I have to consider removing the OAG and using some spacers and another guider instead. It's not nice to play with the components, as they are well aligned now. Edit. I just realized that it may be OK for the APS-C., so let's see.
  20. That makes sense. Recently I made marks of my CGX tripod legs on paving tiles that I use as a foundation in the garden, so will try it soon whether it keeps PA (14") or not. Then I'll be ready quite quickly forthe precise solar astrophotography. I have also similar marks in front of the house for EQ5, which I only move there at day and back to home, nothing is adjusted.
  21. I should try my A80M as well. Together with bino (x1.6 and x2.0) and pairs of ortho 9mm and 7mm should give not much worse result than the 102ED F/11.
  22. I checked all available tools mention in the Internet, I think the fringe removal as well. Unsuccessfully. Thanks for the confirmation of the F/5.6, I'll try. 🙂
  23. I found one screenshot showing the raw stack. For me it's not acceptable and I won't repeat the manual halos removal anymore.
  24. I'm sorry for the late reply, after the defeat mentioned above i temporarily abandoned the project, but now it's coming back. Are you still interested in the files?
