  1. A vixen GP would handle a C6 without issue, it will handle a C8 without issue, no worries there my friend, I have a Vixen GP and have had a C8 on it for a short while.

    coming from another Ed 🤣

  2. Good topic, I myself can’t wait for big B to go boom! I think it will really spark the curiosity of people the world over and what a better way to introduce the wonders of the universe to the masses who otherwise find the cosmos boring and an afterthought to regular daily affairs. If I was so fortunate to see such an event in my lifetime I would feel such an overwhelming sense of privilege that I surely would be overcome. In the unfathomable expanse of time our universes plays out in, our lives are such a minuscule flash, to be able to see Betelgeuse go nova would be like winning the cosmic lottery. Imagine how lucky we would be to have existed at just the right sliver of time. We alive today will never see our expansion out into the solar system much less interstellar travel, at least give us that, a relatively close supernova would be the next best thing.

I”ve had small maks and SCTs and have now settled on a Classical Cassegrain for my grab’n’go setup. Bit sharper on axis than the mak or SCT and no problem with dewing and quick cool down and a proper crayford with dual speed focusing.

BTW the photo of the front of the scope on FLOs website is wrong as it shows the RC with it’s much bigger central obstruction. Due to be updated when they get the time.

If you want a frac then something like this might suit. Great optics and build quality and more expensive but a good all round scope..

The CC, mak or SCT have a narrower field of view but ideal for lunar / planetary and small DSOs Also easier on eyepieces so less expensive ones can be used.

That stellalyra sure is a nice looking piece of kit isn't it!

  4. Imagine launching an equal sized refractor into space, Forbthe sake of argument picture a 21ft triplet the size of a rocket itself hurled into space by other rockets attached to it which separate. Once in orbit the nose cone pops off revealing a giant objective with science instruments where ones eye would Normally be, would such a refracting space telescope outperform the reflecting webb??  Let’s put the impossibilities of launch and other technical hurdles aside for a moment.

This could be fun to discuss or, a clever way for me to start a fight 🤪

  5. Nice capture!

This particular nebula is such an odd duck, its symmetry and bubble like appearance make it seem more like something conjured up by producers of Star Trek TOS rather than the natural object it is.
