An 80mm reflector? I can't say I've seen such a small one, I would not look twice at such a small reflector once one considers the central obstruction, which ones are they?

I knew there were others here happy with their sweet Starfields, I handled the 115 star field at a star party and was doubly impressed with it. 👍

Go for it! get that 4" APO that is just calling your name! the Starfield is a great scope from what I hear, and coupled with a quark you'll have a fantastic time. Everyone needs a 4" frac! and it doesn't have to be a Tak, it just has to be yours, you'll love it! It's a wonderful scope as many here who have one would agree.

92! how did we get ripped off with just one? Jupiter is a moon hog!

Amazing, the fifth image had me reaching for my sunglasses and the full disc 6th image is superb with the many proms.

We like handles on here, don't we....?? 😀
For some reason I get the vibe that handles are shunned here on SGL, is this true? how could something so practical and intuitive deserve the evil eye? or maybe this is just me.

I'm laughing imagining you standing in your garden motionless, staring up at Orion for two hours straight 😂

James Webb space telescope. It's focal length is 131.4m. The picture blew my mind and I wondered what JWST focal length was
134m? wow that seems like an awful lot, it’s not 34? either way it’s nuts. Have to say I love your avatar, your reflection off the telescope mirror is funny.

The Google phones currently exel in night time photography although Samsung are catching up ... alas the iphone seems to be a bit behind . i run with a sony 1 iv which basically is a dslr in a phone but the google spits all over it . In fact the google phones have been great at this since series 5 was released . Amazing what software can do .

Revisiting this I still can't get over how great that image is through a run of the mill cell phone, it should be a first place winner in the cell phone images category.

Unfortunately we may have left the OP confused as happens too often when we start rambling about the minutiae, short answer is the 114 will gather more light than an 80mm. Though expectations should be adjusted when
using a 114mm for DSO's, most objects save for the brighter ones will be underwhelming. This is not intended to discourage the OP but to adjust expectations so as to avoid being disappointed as many beginners are when
expecting far too much from a scope.

Is it really worth even bringing up aperture factor for DSO's when talking about a 114mm? yes it's better on paper than an 80 but really? once the central obstruction is counted
theres no point bringing up the extra aperture.

The Takahashi Blue.
Left: I have finally completed the Ortho Abbe MC series. they are the best eyepieces I love to use, despite their narrow field for someone like me who loves the wide field. in the face of perfection, however, everything takes a back seat. so much so that it is also wonderful to use them in the turret. Now declared out of production for some absurd reason .... I managed to complete the series in doubles up to 6 mm and also found the 4 mmSo that's where all the Abbe eyepieces are! that is a fine collection you have.

Thank you very much. Just added the raw stack from Siril too. Hopefully to show that I haven't exaggerated the tail. Don't want too much artistic licence. 🙂
What’s interesting to me is the length and laser like straightness of the tail, it’s not dispersing much, I have seen time lapses where the tail dispersed a lot more, I would think of it happens to be shielded from solar wind at some point in its orbit it may preserve the tails structure better.

That is wonderful! I wouldn't call it an attempt, you nailed that and I see two small fuzzies there too. Oh i love the second one even more! I have to say its the first Ive seen with the ghostly star trails, it really works
well!.

What an awesome setup! and I would not doubt for a second what that LZOS is capable of. When I got my TSA-102 it was producing terrible views for a couple of weeks until the seeing was right, then it really justified its cost. Sometimes we just have to wait for that special night to be won over by our scopes.
