I will be redefining what i consider grab and go just a bit.  Either one of these can be set up in minutes since they are both on carts.  I grab them and out to the observation site I go.  Last night it was the ten inch for a brief half hour session.  Compared to the 16 inch, the 10 inch is a lightweight set up

North is worse. West even more so as the city centre is in that direction and east my house blocks the view. 🙄

Beautiful! Orion seems to be quite popular!

I'm outside Chicago with heavy LP so my skies are probably similar to yours.  Here's a short tripod-mounted exposure of Orion from my back deck. This was taken last fall and dawn is coming on.

Nice image! funny how similar they are, you've got a corner of your house (top right) and the top of a neighbouring house just as in my image.

  4. It is minus 12C out and a crystal clear sky, I couldn’t help but take a quick phone image to the southwest where Orion looms over my neighbors house. This represents roughly a quarter of the area of sky I can see from my back garden. What are your skies like? I’m sure those of you who live well outside populated areas must have wonderful skies.

You mean this? Couldn't resist a couple of accessories from SV while they were at it, and this Losmandy/Vixen handle-to-end-all-handles had my name all over it. I now need a suitable Vixen bar to put on top of the rings to allow it to work.

Yes indeed, as you say a very good bag. It came as part of the price of the scope, together with the rings.

You can see it here, sitting in front of my 12" Newt, which is itself in front of my 16" Newt hot water tank :) .

That is a big handle! I assume it’s not meant to be left of the scope while observing, it seems to be a quick release handle.
