Think someone other than me might need to second that - and even then I don't give much for your chances! Nice idea though :)

Glad you like it. It's a tricky target from here because it barely gets above 25 degrees. Worth a shot though.

    Adrian

I was only kidding about that 😂, once again, a beautiful image!

  2. Great to hear someone is actually able to get a session in, enjoy those fleeting sessions! I myself have been itching to take my new (to me) TSA-102 out to stretch its legs but,

the weather is horrid. Between clouds and -25 nighttime temps it is deflating, BTW I may adopt the word "blowy" in place of windy from now on, love it.

This i was aware of, thanks, I recall reading somewhere that those branded under ES are not the same as the Bresser branded ones across the pond, can anyone confirm this? there seems to be different focusers on them.

It makes me wonder what else was sacrificed in order to ramp up profit.

It's pretty nuts, isn't it. Suddenly the Takahashi accessories seem reasonably priced, even cheap! 😃

I believe this is the one that is usually recommended with the TEC140: https://www.baader-planetarium.com/en/072x-telekompressor-korrektor-für-tec-140160180.html

I don't know if it's the only reducer you can use with the TEC, maybe an owner could inform us on that. Of course you don't NEED the reducer, but it would be nice to have. The dedicated flattener is not exactly cheap either, at 900€.

I'm sure the quality is there, though.

This is not the only reducer I've seen in that price range or even higher, it begs an explanation by an optics expert, please, someone please explain how a reducer could possibly cost so much.

Are they very difficult to make? do they break 6 lenses before getting one good one? I would understand that.

I took this at prime focus through my 127mm Mak with a 5s/ISO3200.

And...I'm throwing this one in to boot, R Leporis, 10s/ISO3200:

Very nice tight star images, cant ask for better looking stars, 119 looks very pretty, I will definitely target this star on my next session.

I remember many, many years ago walking to school when it was -40C and with the windchill felt like -70C. Now that was seriously COLD.. Unusualy cold even for a Montreal winter. Brrrrrrr. 😬

That is insane, in Toronto I have experienced -43 with windchill a few years back, insanity.

  9. My experience with the Star Pointer Pro was not what I expected, I found it to be flimsy, moving out of alignment with the slightest touch. Unfortunately, tightening up the screws in an attempt to make it more rigid gave me the impression it was going to shatter like egg shells so I tried using it as is but, a breeze would move it out of alignment.  After a few tries I removed it.  As for the Telrad, yes it is ugly and grossly oversized but, It works flawlessly and, I could fight off an attacking bear with it.
