Hi everyone,
This is a bit of a hello and goodbye. I'm retiring and downsizing from a house to flat this year and will be selling my telescopes.
I'm a not particularly serious stargazer living in London so there isn't much point holding on to them. Light pollution being what it is.
I'll be selling them and this seems as good a place as any to see they go to good homes.
Watch this space...

The autoguider port on the handset connects to the autoguider port on the guide camera using the appropriate cable (ST4). The camera is connected to the laptop (usb cable) , the usb cable then returns guide commands back from the guiding software (PHD2) to the mount via the ST4 cable. Combined imaging/guiding cameras tend not to be readily available.

Will I get two times like this, or does the distance from one lens to another need to be specific length ?
With that configuration the magnification will be about 1.4x. 2x magnification will only be achieved using the barlow lens as supplied.

Have you tried adjusting the focus manually?

But looks like 52 36N is close enough for synscan.
Synscan only requires degrees and minutes, so the remainders are rounded up/down as appropriate.

The numbers should be entered in this format and order 002 01W 52 36N.
Also download the synscan app which will give you the coordinates in the correct format.

Hi Cornelius
I have done that to and taken the knob from one extreme to the other without any change.
Mandy
This may indicate that the primary mirror has slipped off the focussing mechanism and is not moving. If this is the case, the telescope will need to be returned to the retailer.

And rotate this knob shown in the picture. Then your eyepiece will move front and back from the scope.
The eyepiece won't move with this type of telescope. The focussing is by the movement of the internal primary mirror.
@Mandy1966 point the telescope at a tree/building about 1km away and then rotate the focussing knob to obtain a focused image in the eyepiece. This type of telescope requires many turns of the focussing knob to reach focus from close to infinity.

Hi everyone New to astronomy.. thinking of buying starter scope Celestron Fi6. Can anyone tell me can I fix my Sony ARii Dslr to the eye piece.
thanks.
The camera body should attach to the visual back (rear) of the telescope using the appropriate adapters. No need for an eyepiece, the telescope becomes a very long telephoto lens.

The v5 is the current version of the synscan handset. Any Synscan v3 , 4 or 5 version of the handset will be suitable.

The telescope base will arrive flat packed. Once this has been assembled all that is required is telescope attached to it's pivot points.

Around a ago year i bought my first telescope and it was a newtonian telescope and it was equipped with an eq2 mount without tracking. I recently have been saving more money up and i want to get my feet wet in Astrophotography.
Now i want to buy a HEQ 5 or an EQ5 (with a handcontroller) but i was curious if i could attach my old telescope to the mount or if i needed to buy a whole another telescope.
It will be possible. You might need a compatible dovetail bar to attach the telescopes mounting rings to.

Already covered in this thread.

I'm running Win10 on an unsupported machine. I don't really want to update to Win 11 as I assume I'd have to reinstall 9 years worth of apps🤔
Anyone know of a way to do the equivalent described in the video but for Win10? Is Win 10 still supported by MS?
CS, Andy
You shouldn't need to reinstall anything. This laptop (Lenovo x220 which I purchased about 8 or 9 years ago) is now running Win11 23H2 originally had Win7 Pro and has had updates to Win10, Win11 22H2 and now 11 23H2 and I have never needed to reinstall software, you select "keep apps and documents" when updating the os.

If you now running Win 11 22H2 on an unsupported machine (I guess many are) and are waiting to see if 23H2 will become available to you, check to see if KB5031455 has been recently installed. If so, you can automatically get 23H2 by simply installing KB50327397. KB5032797 enables the 23H2 updates contained in KB5031455 and only takes a couple of minutes (see video below, starts at @ 11minutes in, link for the required file contained in the description).

Probably not what I want but where’s the “for sale” section? I don’t see it
The For Sale/Swap section with become available to you once you have reached the following requirements: at least 30 days membership and more than 25 posts (posts in the welcome section and non-astro lounge don't count towards this).

The telescopes are the same, Synta own both Skywatcher and Celestron, many of Celestron's reflectors and refractors were supplied by Synta long before Synta bought Celestron. The difference in price appears to be that the Celestron version is mounted on an Eq2 mount and is being sold at a heavily discounted price. Whether the EQ2 mount it capable of holding the mak is another matter.

this adaptor is for a phone though, i need one for a digital camera.
No, that one is for a digital camera. The camera is attached to the platform using a standard tripod thread and the bracket it clamped to the eyepiece. Unfortunately your camera might be too big/heavy for that type.

Hello Michael,
I'm sorry for the confusion but aren't T-rings for attaching cameras to telescopes, or is it that i cannot remove the lens from the camera, in that case, what kind of adapters should I look for?
Thank you
LukaThis type of adapter is probably the one to use

Hi everyone
Wasn't sure where to put this, so figured the astro lounge was a safe bet
I would like to either edit the title/description, or delete, an album in the gallery. I am sure there must be an easy way of doing this but for the life of me I cannot find it. Please can someone explain how this is done.
Thanks in advance
It should be possible for you to do this. If not let a moderator know which album you need deleting and can do it for you.

Found this solution for anyone who doesn't have enough space for large observatory.

The fixed zoom lens has a 58mm filter thread. Photography will require an adapter (digiscoping adapter) to connect the camera to an eyepiece to obtain an image.
-
Not sure if an off the shelf system (Synscan or similar) would work with your mount.
