That looks rather a fine scope and has history to boot, enjoy.

Red Dwarfer, wow, that is quite some scope.
Relieved when the last image was NOT of your Niece headless after the tube dropped and shut onto her, thank goodness.
Nice step up from your 200p, do you get the conditions to use a 350mm scope much or is this a once in a while use to go with the 200mm?

Hello All,
Well today my new scope arrived.
The SW Skyliner 250px flextube.
Eastman, that is one nice scope you have.
Something I rather like the idea of myself.
Please post a first light report when you get out with it.-

No more. They have done well from me. My Tak looks great though, red and white, very St. George, or barber pole.
Let's hope you have no close shaves with the Tak!

Some my reactions to your news:
A sad day when you have to sell off fine kit Derek.
Hope the Celestron's still provide enough of a view for your pleasure.-

Late to the party as always, I now know why you bought that little dob.
This makes great sense and use of your present available mount and camera, nice thinking.
Hope the sky gods play nice soon, because if they do I can get out and play too!

Thanks, it is a lovely mount now I just need the clouds to clear so I can use it.
Don't we all Ade, don’t we all.
That is a very nice mount, had considered it myself, but got an Altair Sabre more local to me.

I look forward to your build posts, something I would love to do myself but as a wood butcher rather than carpenter, feel may be beyond my skill set.

I remember going to a slide show in Grange in the early 1980's and seeing Borrowdale by star light.
It has stuck with me ever since.-

Borrowdale and Keswick are very much a special place to me, so really enjoyed your images.
I will try more than a sunset shot when I visit in a few weeks, clouds willing of course.-

The one big regret I have is selling my GP2 mount, it was so well made.
It now belongs to another here on SGL.
As to Mikes OCD, I must point out the white counterweights sets off that white Tak rather well.

A few days ago I parted with this classic Vixen Polaris, at first it was a long term loan.
Then after further discussion with paulastro, we decided to do a trade. Paul wanted the Polaris as a quality Altaz for his 4" ED. For my part I received this in exchange!
A beautiful Vixen GP. This is my second Vixen GP, the first is permanently housed on a steel pier in my observatory and now this second GP is my solid grab and go mount. I prefer equatorial when sketching!
Personally i feel these classic mounts are some of the finest portable mounts ever made. It's a tragedy Vixen stopped making them, but fortunately they are greatly undervalued by the majority and so come up second hand quite cheap.
TwoGP mounts, wow.

Had a couple of disappointments from purchases based on advertised specs, so time to stop and sell some off perhaps.
Sell? But, but, but, but you are The Astro Magpie!
Have to say joking aside, far too often specification and expectation fail to merge with many purchases.

Gina I am looking at scopes as well as eyepieces, it’s the cloud that is making this happen of course.
Now if someone could invent a cloud cutting scope, that would sell well in the UK

I will be able to post a pic of my Newt in a few days, and no it wont be an amphibian, but a telescope this time
GSO like Mikes at all?
-
My Second Newt another Skywatcher Explorer 150p f5, what a sky surfing simple set up it is, stupid that I sold the first one and then went full circle.
These are small, light and simple.
All very luddite and simple, ignore the AVX, it was a departure from simple and is now working for another.
All sits on either a Skytee 2 or an Altair Sabre 2.This time, it stays.
I have bought it a nice Geoptik bag, so its a keeper.-

If I were to chop my Vixen 22mm LVW....
in Discussions - Eyepieces
Posted
As the final posting by me on this:
'If I were to chop my LVW 22mm'........I would be mad!
It's just too much of a nice eyepiece,
easy to use, comfortable, clear and sharp and something of a hero in my eyepiece case.
If you had not realised its staying and is a keeper.
Must note that the 19mm Panoptic that nearly knocked it out is also a keeper for my short scopes for easier balance, I rather like the 19mm Pan too.
