  1. Oh, that would be great if you could sell them to me. Can I PM you? Emil
  2. Hi guys. A few months ago I bought a refractor fitted with a CFL 2.5" large format focuser. I bought it from the US and had it delivered to a friend of mine over there and today he brought it over to me. I noticed on the focuser that 2 of the bearings are broken. Do you by any chance know if I can get replacements in the UK? I emailed moonlite but I would prefer to get them from here if I can find them. Emil
  3. It's a hotshoe 3 way spirit level for framing purposes. I only do 0 and 90 degrees so I only needed a 2 way but I couldn't find any so I bought the 3 way.
  4. I bought them both from the 2nd hand market, cost me £220 all together ?
  5. Eq3 is indeed quite good for widefield. I upgraded to tripod to a stainless steel one for more stability. I sometimes have problems but it's nothing that a little play with the screws can't solve. ? I sometimes use my ts65q on it and get subarcsecond guiding. The last photo is the setup fully portable, guided by a lacerta mgen and powered by a 22Ah tracer battery. Laptop only used for polar alignment and platesolving.
  6. Thank you guys! I tried to put an amount that I spent fir everything used to shoot this target and it's a bit over £1000 so not too bad I suppose. I absolutely envy the bortle 2 skies too. I'm on the outskirts of London under bortle 6 skies at Zenith and the bortle 2 trip to Wales came a bit unexpected. I had Wales in my mind for quite a while and a week before, looking at the wearther forecast for the bank holiday weekend I noticed that it was looking quite promising so I booked a tent pitch in a Caravan park at Devil's Bridge, Pontarfynach. 10 hour return trip for a 5 hour imaging session under bortle 2 skies, is it worth it? Definitely, and I would do it again anytime. One day, I'm hoping to pay Olly a visit. ? I had some more RGB data shot in my back garden but I felt like it was ruining the RGB photo so I decided to only use the data captured in Wales. In the photo, on the left hand side, there is a reflection nebula, IC5076 that I completely lost in the stack where I used the RGB data shot from my back garden. I managed to capture some Elephant trunk data too because I have some Ha shot in my back garden.
  7. No, I didn't, only stopped it down from the lens itself.
  8. I think my monitor needs a proper callibration. On my phone it looks quite washed out and dark. Does this one look better? I tweaked it in Lightroom on my phone.
  9. My latest achievement with this gem of a lens. Canon 700D 71x300sec ISO1600 with Astronomik 6nm Ha clip in filter (bortle 6) And 10x180sec ISO800 with IDAS LPS-D1 CLIP filter (bortle 2) Emil
  10. Well, the summer targets are starting to be a bit higher in the sky and I thought of starting early with a very well known target, the North America nebula. Equipment used: Eq3 Pro Canon 700D astro modified Samyang 135mm f2 @ f2.8 IDAS LPS-D1 clip in filter Astronomik 6nm Ha clip in filter QHY5 guide camera 9x50 finder-guider QhyCCD polemaster Software used: Eqmod, APT for capturing and platesolving, Stellarium with StellariumScope, SharpCap for polar alignment and PHD2 for guiding. Location: Bushey UK, Bortle 6 for the Ha and Pontarfynach, Wales, Bortle 2 for the RGB Date: 18, 19 and 20.04.2019 for the Ha and 05.05.2019 for the RGB The image is the result of 71x300sec ISO1600 exposures for the Hydrogen alpha, 10x180sec and 15x180sec ISO800 exposures for the RGB stacked and calibrated in DSS and processed with Photoshop CC 2019 and Lightroom CC. I hope you like it. Emil
  11. I guess that if you shoot away from those light it's not such a big deal. The 1st night was partially cloudy and you actually couldn't see the clouds, it was pitch black like the stars disappeared from the sky. Where the Milky way was coming up and there were small gaps in the clouds you could actually see the clouds being brightened by the stars above and absolutely black below. I took a shot of my setups working to gather the photons and you could see the milky way rising above the hills. It's only a 20sec exposure ISO1600 with my 450D and samyang 16mm f2 @ f2.8
  12. I'm in a bortle 6 zone too. It is a 100% improvement but there's gotta be places with no lights in that area. Plenty of bortle 2 skies around there.
  13. Indeed it should. I would've moved somewhere else but knowing it was gonna be a very cold night with temperatures dropping to -4°C during the night, I had to stay there because I had power to warm up my tent. I stayed outside most of the night and close to the morning I was absolutely covered in frost but it was well worth it. I shot other targets too and I was shocked by the amount of data I was getting in the single subs. For example this is a screenshot of a single 3min sub of the North America nebula, tweaked in Camera raw to equalise the channels.
  14. Unfortunately they were on all night. Most of the area is surrounded by tall trees and that is the best location on that site. They were telling me there's another site close by with 360° views and no obstructions but I don't know if that one has similar lights running all night.
  15. Be aware that the surrounding hills are quite high and there are quite a few annoying lights on site. Luckily my targets were not in that direction.
  16. Last weekend I went on a trip to a UK bortle 2 location and because I wanted the Blue Horsehead Nebula so much I decided to give it a try. Eq3 Pro, Canon 700D astro modified Samyang 135mm f2 @ f2.8, IDAS LPS-D1 clip in filter, QHY5 guide camera, 9x50 finder-guider, QhyCCD polemaster. Location: Woodland Caravan Park, Pontarfynach, Wales, Bortle 2 Date: 05.05.2019 The image is the result of 21x180sec ISO800 exposures stacked and calibrated in DSS and processed with Photoshop CC 2019 and Lightroom CC. Emil
  17. Another one shot with my canon 700D and the 135mm. NGC7822 This is 60x300sec ISO1600 with an Astronomik 6nm Ha clip in filter.
  18. Here's a few of my attempts with this amazing lens. I absolutely love it and I can't wait to test it out with my qhy183m. Emil
  19. I don't know. Do you have a link? Is there a forum? Also, I wanted to ask if you can add park or warm camera commands at the end of the session.
  20. Thank you. I was thinking about the background. I'm used to framing in stellariumand I can see if there are small fuzzies that I can frame with the main target. I toogled between the image sources and I worked it out in the end. I'm outside now hoping for a ful test. Looking forward to use it. Looks very promising. I've vbeen using APT so far but I was thinking of switching to SGP. N.I.N.A came at exactly the right time. I installed the 1.9 Nightly version. I hope it works all right. Emil
  21. I downloaded N.I.N.A too because my daughter in Nina and I have to like it ? I had a little play with it, connected my equipment, cooled the camera, checked the filterwheel is working properly. I quite like it. On the framing assistant, how do you make the image a bit darker to show the objects a bit better on the screen or what image source do you use for framing? Emil
  22. I'm pretty sure it can be better than that. To me it looks very noisy. Maybe I should put the tif files here and you guys can play with them. They are all aligned and cropped so only need processing and blending.
