  1. Excellent views of Jupiter, GRS and moons this morning. Best of the year so far in my 120mm Omni ‘frac with 5mm Duo EP! 😀

  2. Getting a second hand Skywatcher 200PDS scope next Wednesday when I go down to collect it. Does second hand equipment incurr a cloud penalty at all? Hehe! ;)

nice one Gus, you get 2 3rds cloud curse for secondhand stuff, and you can reduce it more by sleeping with one eye open the night before you get it :icon_biggrin:. your going to love the scope when you see the colour you get with newts. well done. charl.

Thanks Charl. Hoping to scoop up some fainter items with this scope too. Fingers crossed! :)

  3. Going to be stuck in a hotel away for work all this week until next Sunday, so no Astro anything for me this week apart from naked eye visual! :(

On the plus side we are having a work do in a very posh hotel at the weekend, so that makes up for it a little! Hehe! ;)

There are some perks then! I've got two nights in Amsterdam if I can ever find a flight / hotel combo that finance will approve

  4. Gone 12 o’clock, so it’s now officially legging up day! 😂

  5. Gone and done it now! Pressed the button on a ZWO ASI 120 MC camera. ?

  6. Good to get out again after a cold. Saw Tegmine & Eskimo nebula, among other targets in Auriga & Gemini. Nice session if chilly still! :)

  7. Got a brief outing on Thursday night with the new C8 SCT. Collimation was slightly out (sorted now hopefully). With DSO's however I managed to easily pick out some galaxies that I'd not seen before, so very happy with that even with the LP where I live! :)

  8. Got a very nice (but brief due to cloud) view through my Maxvision 68 20mm EP in my new Skywatcher Explorer 200P-DS reflector of the moon last night. Hoping for good things from this scope! Fingers crossed! :)

fantastic Gus ,I'm glad you like it, I think toget the most outa the sky a newt is a must, ive had quite a few over the years, my biggist was 24inch back in the 80s, but fantastic to view through it was a pain to transport, I retired it in the late 80s because of needing re silvering and I couldn't sell a kidney, ive still got the mirror and secondry and otheir bits in the loft. I look forward to hearing when you have a night of clear with good seeing.  charl.

Thanks Charl. I'm hoping there might be a little time tonight after sunset to view Venus, Mars and the moon with the new scope before those clouds supposedly pile back in. Nice and sunny here today in Hull, so going to have a look at the sun after my cup of tea. :)

the suns forsaken me here, thick cloud and rain, but the rigs all powered up just in case I get a clear patch. clear skys mate.  charl.

  9. Great steady seeing on the moon tonight folks. Easily pushed over 200x with EP’s, and the moon is as steady as a rock. Make the most of these conditions, regardless of the cold if you can! :)

  10. Great transparency last night. Managed two new targets; NGC400 (Mirach's ghost) & M102 (Spindle galaxy). Also saw M33 for the first time for a long time from my garden. Excellent stuff! :)

  11. Great views of Saturn this evening. Cassini was so prominent. Even managed to see details on the planet too for the first time. Kind of strange that Jupiter wasn't any where near as good!

  12. Great! Looks like skies going to be clear again tonight, so scopes will be coming out to play! 😁

As Chaos said, try not to think about it, then when Friday arrives you'll be pleasantly surprised. But I think this is quite hard to keep off your mind...:happy11:

Yeah, was looking forward to having a first light with them tonight as the forcast is to be clear until around midnight, but Friday is not too long to wait. I'm busy with work on the next three days so wouldn't be able to use it fully intil Friday anyway. :)

  14. Grrrrr..........going to be nice and clear tonight after the footie, yet have to be up early for work in the morning. Double grrrrrrr..........????

  16. Had a quick look through the new Televue 10mm Delos I got off Marki last night. Even with the moon out and  clouds too it looks looks it will give great views! :)

  17. Had great fun with new (to me) Celestron 6/8SE goto mount. Got all things in view easily in my C8 SCT on it! 😀

  18. Hello Mercury! Nice to see ya again! 😃

  19. Hopefully looking good for a few hours cloud free tonight. A quick bite to eat and I'll be straight out! ?

Thanks Charl. Was testing out the new Goto mount, and worked a treat. Saw a couple of M's I'd never seen before. Wish I'd took notes 'cos I can't rember the numbers, but a new Galaxy see, plus a new glob and some open clusters too. :)

  20. Hoping for more clear skies tonight, but looks like it might be 50/50 either way! :(

    1. xtreemchaos

      xtreemchaos

hope you get some clear sky mate, it 100% against here, ive a chance in the morrning for some solar, but tomorrow night theres a load of wet and windy stuff coming in from the west and its going to be covering most of the uk monday. hope the forcast is wrong.  charl.

      Knighty2112

Yeah, not looking good here now. Hard. Wall to wall cloud, so doubt it will clear up much, but live in hope. :)

  21. I think the sun is playing hide and seek! Trouble is I just can't find it? Grrrrrr..........

  22. I'm loving tracking Vesta through Gemini. 4 nights out of 5 tracking it is pretty good, especially with the lousy weather here lately! Managed just to see 41P too with averted vision just! :)

  23. Just had so much fun outside observing, anyone would think I'm not at work in the morning! Yikes! ;)

  24. Just managed to catch 5 minutes of observing the shadow of Io on Jupiter before clouds fully rolled in. Also managed to see a nice bright green meteor though also at 22:56, which must have been bright as I saw it through thin cloud/haze in the direction of Leo. :)

  25. Liking the darker nights once again, when clouds allow of course!
