  1. It would have to be my 4"refractor.
  2. From memory only, I'd say the Fullerscopes is sharper. But I do need to get both out side by side to compare. The Fullerscopes OTA and MKIII mount is a bit more of a commitment to move outside, so, with the recent weather hasn't been used much. In fact not at all since I bought the 200P.
  3. Yes, some very good progress. Be interesting to see the conclusions regarding Starship re-entry failure.
  4. Just four for me: Vixen 102M Fullerscopes 8.5" Newtonian ST80 200P Dob
  5. Took a quick look at Jupiter while the 8" dob cooled. Followed by the the Orion nebula and Trapezium, just the four mains stars visible to me, but the nebula was a lovely green extended cloud. Thought I'd have a go at M1, managed to see it as a grey oval smudge with direct vision, made more obvious by nudging the scope. There's nothing else similar in the vicinity of Zeta Tauri, so fairly sure I've now bagged the crab, which is a first for me.
  6. I can also recommend Astro Buy Sell UK. I've only purchased from there, but all experiences have been good.
  7. That's a great price. I've had my copy a few years now, and found it a very descriptive and informative reference. Something to read when it's cloudy!
  8. Nice view of the ISS going over. Followed by half an hour watching Ganymede disappear behind the disk of Jupiter.
  9. Clear skies here this morning, Mercury was clear to the naked eye. Views through a telescope showed a disk, but no phase discernible. Seeing not so good due to being close to the horizon.
  10. This link may help, looks like the front/top should unscrew... https://bbs.astronomy-imaging-camera.com/d/6496-dismantle-asi120-mc-problem
  11. Thank you for the replies. I'll continue using my IR blocking filter, and see how the results compare to the webcam, hopefully there'll be an improvement. Then look at the additional filtering. Mark.
  12. Hi, I'm using a 102/1000 achromatic refractor.
  13. Hello, I've just ordered a ZWO ASI 224MC to replace a 740K webcam for lunar and planetary imaging. Is a combined IR/UV cut filter going to be absolutely necessary? I have an IR filter already which was used with the webcam, so could use that.
  14. Enjoyed this thread immensely, having read through it twice already. There's something about a refractor that says "proper telescope".
