  1. Could I see a photo of the parfocal ring? I'm thinking about putting one on my powermate.
  2. I'm looking for an az4 for my 4" f10 achro at the moment, so could you reserve it please?
  3. I have about 10" by 10" of red film that people can help themselves to. I'll also be getting rid of my 5" f5 reflector - excellent condition, although I replaced the secondary screws with longer ones and put mini wooden birthday candle holder things on each of them. I stuck them on with gorilla glue so they're a bit messy, and also there's a small blob on the inside of the tube - none of which affects the optics though. Comes with a telrad base and 30mm finder. £60 I also have a skywatcher supatrak mount (not goto) +cash, which I'd consider swapping for an AZ4 mount. Don't want to get rid of it without an AZ4. I have a spare planisphere which I'll give away for £3, and I don't use 2" eyepieces so will sell the 2" to 2" extender that came with my dob for £5. I'm looking for a cheap but decent (around £20-£25) 32mm plossl eyepiece for wider TFOVs, if anyone has one spare. I'll be at pitch 62, arriving some time Friday and leaving on Sunday.
  4. Yipeeeeee!!!! Just managed to get a great view with my 8", steady granulation and loads of sunfreckles! I've packed most of my stuff away for another view at the end of the transit. I'm really happy because it was supposed to be 100% cloud all day!
  5. A bigger filter does give more contrast, but has the obvious disadvantage that it requires more film to make. Both will show the transit well.
  6. Flo says that you need about 50* magnification.
  7. Ouch! I was wandering if projecting the sun with 10*50 bins would let me see mercury? I've already ordered a £5 pair from ebay, so I hope it will work.

Not much but I'm pretty pleased with it for a 5mp camera.
  9. Normally I just hop from one side of the sky to the other, I have never tried concentrating on one constellation at a time. It usually goes: Jupiter Venus Saturn if visible A few clusters Try m31 (usually fail) Look at everything again Go home Also is there a good constellation to start with? I have an 8" dob and I can't even see M31! Thanks
