Thanks Peter, I just wish I could get a clear night to grab the Oiii to finish it. Ive only had 1 crystal clear night in Kent in month and months.

yes I know that frustration really well..... and it just skips high enough to get anything. All that crud you are having to look through really make it a challenge.....not easy to do....you make it look effortless

Just viewed this on a larger monitor and it looks way better than on on my laptop. I'd agree that is one of the best, if not the best, Elephant's Trunk I've seen. Would you mind if i downloaded a copy for my desktop background?
thank you....no go a head

Thanks Peter. I do wish I had a 6200 series camera for this scope. If I did, I probably would not be so eager to switch if out
Nah this is the perfect FOV in my opinion....I'm actually capturing almost the identical field as this atm

Ooo nice FOV....lovely detail Rodd

Wow Peter! That is the best Elephant's Trunk I have ever seen!
Did you use software binning on the M16 dataset as well?
Thank you Richard...
No didnt use it on M16 there was so much signal in that there was no need

Thank you.....I thought they were gradients at first and tried removing them 😆 but soon realised they are real....all be it pushed to show the colour

Wow, great image Peter and great star colour!
I've yet to image this one, but I'm curious what the object is in the centre of the ring in the cropped version? I don't think I've seen it so close up before.
Thank you ChrisI have no idea...it would be interesting to find out

It was surprising how much colour I was able to pull out

yes great range of colours Peter
Lee
Thanks Lee... what was astonishing to me was the amount of signal in effectively a 40min exposure

I've been working on this the whole weekend, I just love the range of colour in this object. A three panel mosaic of IC1396 The Elephant Trunk Nebula. Imaged with the 16in ODK and ASI2600 remotely from Spain.........Imaged at 1x1 software binned 2x2...exposure time was only 40mins in each RGB channel for each panel, all 60s unguided on The DDM85.
Thanks for looking

beautiful!!

lovely image...
Its a bright object, but provided you haven't saturated the exposures, which I doubt you have, you can control the core brightness when doing your levels and curves....masks are also useful when combining the faint stuff
-
nicely done ...love the star colour

Holy smokes Olly, that's a lot of panels!!! So much to see in the bigger one worth taking a good look at its lovely.... another triumph Olly!!

Thank you.....the seeing has been really nice recently in Spain which really helped with this.

We have had a few clear skies here in Powys but I need to swap out my UPS in the garden observatory.... the thing is there's no rush as I have the luxury of a few other scopes to use.
