  1. I have the SW low profile focuser and that definitely doesn’t fit the 130pds. The focuser plate is too flat, on a 130pds it looks like a plank on a see-saw. Well... unless you DIY some adapter plate
  2. Yeah I do, I find it very sturdy and never had any issues, both for observing and astrophotography. I have two manfrotto tripods but I still prefer the SW tripod, least for use in the garden
  3. Let’s be topical and do: ”SpaceX Starlink & our skies”
  4. I keep seeing the cheaper guidescopes on eBay 60mm for £60ish, they all look identical to the ZWO version and even the Orion or TSOptics version has anyone tried the cheaper versions on eBay? Are they just the same or do they work just the same?
  5. I had a astronomik cls Clio on filter on the canon when taking the exposures
  6. North America Nebula taken on the 1st Jul and processed just now Taken with Canon 550d modified with 300mm lens , mounted on SA i freaking love the SA but even more so the canon 300mm f4 Lens!!!!!!

  8. Hi, which camera did you use to take this? I didn’t have any success on the Markarian chain using my Canon 550d modded and 60s exposures on the 130pds Didn’t manage to capture any useful luminance data from these galaxies
  9. Can anyone recommend a astrophotography camera for the 130pds? I am ready to go beyond the Canon 550d with my 130pds, which I must say it’s been amazing to use a DSLR with the 130pds Is anyone using a ZWO camera for this scope that you can recommend ? Reason for ZWO is I am very interested in the new ZWO Asiair which makes the laptop totally redundant via an iPad I am mainly a DSO imager, I also own a SW250 Quattro so investing in a dedicated camera will be very worthwhile
  10. 130pds on planetary. I love this scope (sometime I do hug and kiss it), proper solid partner earlier for the total lunar eclipse. 10s shot at iso340 from canon 6d
  11. In my experience not possible, unless you want to turn against the motor. But I suppose the purpose of the auto focuser is to provide handsoff micro-fine focusing without introducing any vibrations (great for visual). So somewhat makes the ds focuser redundant
  12. I watched this video when I got mine(also came with clouds), very comprehensive https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gpIteLt3xcw&feature=share
  13. Which cam do you use Roland? Wonderful photos already
  14. Another one captured earlier last month, the NGC7789 Caroline's Rose - 1hr30min of 1min subs combined, 130pds with LP filter on NEQ6Pro, no darks/flats/magics. bit of coma but I am not too fuzzy on coma stretched in adobe lightroom as my trial license on PixInsight just ran out
  15. Just tried out pixinsight on my photos (transformed my M31 pics), I am loving my 130pds more and more
  16. Controversially, i imaged a 130pds instead of imaging with a 130pds nonetheless it shows what a little beauty the 130pds is, with Mars on the left and Saturn on the right
  17. Recently ordered a Bahtinov mask a size too small. I called Harrison Telescope and they said send it back and they will get back in touch as there was a slightly price difference. it was literally two days later a new mask came in the post and I guess they waived the extra cost. I sent them an email with thanks and they replied politely saying happy to have helpes from order to delivery they have been superb so lucky we have great telescope retailers in the uk
  18. Yeah it is! It’s a 300p dob with az tracking, with canon 550d, avi captured with Backyard EOS. Wasn’t going to stay out that late but saw the transit so I thought I should download Registax and give it a go. Can’t wait till the moon comes out now, What is Star tool and binning? It was my first planetary so am new to video stacking. It took about minutes for Registax to stack the 600 frames
  19. First try with registax on avi file (600 frames), taken last night, since Jupiter is still up high what a good chance to try planetary
  20. I recently wash mine (my 300mm, 200mm, n 130mm) with washing up liquid and gentle rubbing with my hand over the top with all the washing up liquid on it. they are now so clean I can see my pupils clearly when I look down the tube. while everyone on YouTube suggest you should never never never touch the mirror, I totally agree if you have claws ?
  21. Another clear night on Friday (although round about 2am it got really really cold) and thought i’d Snap the Dumbbell Nebula with my 300p dob with goto. Details stretched with Lightroom mobile (btw if you don’t have it Lightroom, get it!!!)
  22. Never thought I could post here when I read this thread a while back, just realised I can finally contribute! I recently acquired a SW 300 goto dob and on a really clear night the whirlpool galaxy was so bright in my eyepiece, so I ran in and grabbed my camera for a quick snap. I think this is a single 30 second light at iso 6400, with details really stretched out on the iPad
  23. What a thread, ordering a SynScan WiFi adapter with FLO and gonna purchase the SkySafari pro app from play store I have a nexus 7 II generation pad. Anyone knows if Sky Safari will work on this? if not, I have iPhone & IPad Pro so will purchase SkySafari on iOS App Store really want to avoid buying the app twice i have a really long usb cable that I control my canon with via backyard Eos inside the house , with this WiFi solution I can finally stay indoor for good on a photo session!!!! I can’t wait
