  1. A slight haze nearly stopped me setting up, but seems like it was worth it.

  2. Slightly lacking inspiration on my one clear night, but this seemed like something that might be reasonable boxed off in a night

    NGC 6979 / Pickering's Triangle 30 x 120 Ha and the same in Oiii.

    APM 107/700, asi1600mm

Stars and Starless, a 2 different versions:

  3. Captured as 2 panels per channel in LRG&B with an asi178mm @ 700mm

Stacked in AS!3, then sharpened in PixInsight before mosaic merging with MS ICE, aligning in imPPG then off to Photoshop for colour balancing and saturation etc

  4. My processing workflow amounts to trying stuff and seeing if I like it 🙂 This is my take:

    Dynamic Crop
    EZ Soft Stretch
    Histogram transform (Rough colour balance)
    Curves (Colour balance)
DarkStructureEnhance script twice. One at .40 and then one at .20
    NoiseXterminator (just a light touch)
SCNR to settle some remaining green
    ArcsinhStretch a tiny amount (1.4, I think )

    Thank you for the data!

  5. Last nights (14th) 95% waxing gibbous moon. 8 part mosaic at 700mm with a QHY5iii462 colour camera, which is usually my guide camera. What a delight to process after doing so many with a mono camera!

A different kind of task, compared to mono. With my 178m this would have been a 2 part mosaic, but still 8 stacks (LRG&B).

  6. This was shot with a ProPlanet 642BP in lieu of the red channel, as the red seemed a little soft when processed (PixInsight, ICE, imPPG)

2 panel mosaic @700mm with the asi178mm. 1000 frames per channel / panel, 30% stack

I assume you're using a largish aperture scope? I ask as I've taken a similar level of exposure with a WO Z61 in a bortle 7 but have very little cloud/dust detail at all, just the initial patch around the bright centre, nothing beyond the internal cloud/dust surfaces.

The scope is an APM 107/700mm. It took some effort to drag it out of the background

Wow,  that is something to behold.

Excellent work all round.  161 separate movie captures (!!!!).   Your poor computer must be as hot as the Solar surface.

Thank you! I'm amazed that this sort of thing can be done as 'backyard' astrophotography.

The computer chewed on the files over night - I off load them to a NAS so the capture PC drive doesn't fill, so stacking speed is further limited by network speed

Must get a faster PC this year with plenty of solid state space
