+1 for astromuni and alacant. -
Well, tbh the first half of October was quite okay but it all broke down about 10 days ago- only rain since. this summer i was thinking about giving up, too- but hey , you need something to spend your money on, and astro gear is perfect for that 😃

i have a skywatcher f4 200/800. in my case, i need to mount an extension as the fokus point is farther away from the scope. -

Hi! For all the noobs (like me ) out there: - The more your polar alignment is off, the more your pictures will suffer from field rotation - the higher your declination (more towards polaris) you are, the bigger your field rotation - http://celestialwonders.com/tools/rotationMaxErrorCalc.html will calculate your error for you - Example: If your guide star is 1° from your target, your scope has 800mm focal length, declination is 45° and your subs are 2 minutes, you'll get 3 microns of star trails if you have a large alignment error of 60 minutes=1° - By playing around, you'll get a good feeling about how short your subs have to be Clear skies!

Field rotation although very small PE error?
uhb1966 replied to uhb1966's topic in Getting Started With Imaging
@ONIKKINEN no, has not been serviced for 9 years, i'm the first owner 💀 However, last night i got down below one ArcSecond of error with phd2. Backlash is at 2300 seconds, and the power port and the rs232 port seem to have issues... so yes, i need to get it serviced this winter- 15 replies

Okay, so i have a vintage QHY8 camera that is cooled, but does not report the temperature. How long should i let the cam cool down before operation? I'm asking because it seems like the camera gets its best performance after at least 2 hours of cooling... and the difference is enormous ! Ambient temp was relatively mild (15° centigrade)
