oh yeah i know eqmod has gamepad support, just thought i'd say in case it was a deal breaker for you lol. I did exactly the same as you, i bought APT and was trying it when i spotted N.I.N.A but i just prefer the workflow of N.I.N.A. may change my mind if i gave APT a chance i suppose. Another thing is the customer support for GS is brilliant. I was having i bit of trouble setting something up so asked on an astronomy page on facebook. The developer of the software messaged me and walked me through the full setup and put me on to the GS io page where he says engineers and developers will help me with anything i need help with.

I like it, especially since moving to N.I.N.A sequencing software too. I like eqmod too but i just find GS is a nice customisable option and also has gampad control and other nice tweaks like being able to sync observatory location and other settings with cdc. I’m not sure about the sync option that you have with eqmod as i’ve now started using plate solving. What sequencing software do you use?

I dont use eqmod anymore, i use a software called GS Server and the speed is set to 0.5 but for some reason shows as 0.1 on phd. I havnt noticed any unusual grinding. When i first adjusted it it was making a clinking sound as if it was stuck but i loosened the grub screw a little and it solved that.

Hi all, i'm having really bad guiding problems since i've adjusted the grub screws to take out the play on my neq6. I've tried adjusting the grub screws back but cant seem to get anywhere and dont know a way of tweaking it in the day. Does anyone know of any calibration software where i can adjust the mount while having some sort of live readout on my computer to check when its right? I dont know if that makes sense lol.

Thankyou, since i posted this i have learnt two things that i’m assuming will also make a huge difference. I received all my gear from my old man as he couldnt get his head round a computerised neq6 pro and ed80 ds pro. When he first bought his gear he bought a 250pds and bought a coma corrector for this and the filter wheel, he then bought the ed80 ds pro with an ed80 reducer coma corrector, Since then he never really used it hence giving the mount/ed80/atik/filter wheel to me. What i didnt realise is he had attached the coma corrector from the 250pds reflector and the coma corrector from the ed80 together then stuck it all on the scope. 1- Would this make a big difference having two correctors as one was made for a reflector and one for a refractor? also to my disappointment i opened up the filter wheel to find that there wasnt a lum filter so the images i was doing were Red/Green/Blue but no lum just straight through. Is the Lum filter absolutely necessary? Apologies for going on i’m still learning. Thanks for your help

Yes sure, this one wasnt as many as i’d like but i did; 10 dark frames 120s 10 red filter 120s 10 green filter 120s 10 blue filter 120s 10 lum filter 120s i’m using deep sky stacker and photoshop to process, i dont know if it makes a difference but i’m using a Atik 314+ mono cam. Thanks

Hey guys and girls. Can anyone give me any pointers on how i can improve the results of my images after processing please? I don't seem to get the nice pinpoint stars i would like and tracking always seems a bit off\goto always seem a bit off. I've used a bathinov mask to get focus but something if a miss. I'm still very much a newbie. Thanks

Hi all, i recently setup a mini computer for all my astro gear. I used a rp4 with stellarmate os with ekos/kstars. Since doing this i was given my dads computer with eqmod and cdc etc which i have used lots and enjoy. I use an Atik 314 mono and the infinity software and love the function when imaging in which it gradually stacks the image as the camera gathers more detail. My question is has anyone else tried ekos/kstars and infinity etc and found that one is better than the other? I’ve not tried ekos a lot but know it wont run my filter wheel which is a bummer but i was just wondering pro’s and cons of both.

Thanks guys, i’m using Stellarmate but cant get the efk2 filter wheel or hightech astro auto focuser working. I’ve just installed everything on a computer now and hope to go on to that.

pictured this Orion Nebula last night, sadly i’m not able to use the different filters i have as my rpi4 isn’t compatible with the EFK2. First half decent image since owning the setup. Think their maybe a tracking issue from the little squiggles on the image. Any pointers on stacking and processing etc would be much appreciated.
