  1. You basically need to find where Polaris is on the smaller of the 2 circles (It's North and up but not bang on so will rotate throughout the day / night.

https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/polar-scope-align/id970157965Β this can help on Apple or thisΒ https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.techhead.polarfinder&hl=en_GB&gl=USΒ on Android.

If you're just visual, don't worry too much but for imaging you want to get it as good as possible.

I thought that would be the case.

I've always wanted and 130pds.Β  They're pocket rockets!Β  It'll need to wait for a better mount.

I'm not saying it won't work, just hard work πŸ™‚ I think if it's all well balanced on a sturdy tripod in good conditions it's worth a bash maybe.

Can you image with the 130pds on the az-gti?

I'm just planning out potential upgrade routes and was thinking about getting a 130pds down the line.

I think once you add a camera / some method of guiding / maybe a coma corrector to the 4kg tube you'll beΒ  pushing things a bit ? One gust of wind and you'll be struggling.

ok thats probably going to push me down the Skymax 102 direction then. I keep it n the garage so hope the cool down wont be excessive as its for use with a 4/5yo and they have no patience.Β

I own a AZ EQ6 GT also but thats not grab and go no matter what you put on it.Β

Took the scope out last night for the first time in ages using electric for the first time and an older phone as my current phone is now android 12 and the skywatcher app no longer works.Β

Then all hell broke loose. Did a North/level alinement then asked it to go to Sirius. No. The scope pointed down and away from Sirius. Tried again .....no. So just asked it to go to another star instead. Again totally different part of the sky.

So I started to wonder if the phone itself knew where is was in the world. It did but was unable to get a GPS lock. So after disabling the "find my location" on my phone things got slightly better though only once was it in the field of view after asking it to find a target. I will now have to look for another used phone that can get a GPS lock on my position.

    A frustrating evening all told.

Synscan pro version 1.19.12 on Skywatcher site works on Android 12 ... it's not on the play store for some reason.
