  1. Only just coming around been in so much pain. What a night Milkyway through Cassiopeia, first time in a dark site with the 10"  M42 with a UHC was mesmerising, double cluster was awesome, Crab nebula was like a snowstorm really shone out. Only disappointment was the app it does not give you loads of objects to look at if I could use Sky Safari it would be better, I forgot to write some objects down but it didn't matter as it was that cold  my S10 lost all its battery in a hour and 20 minutes from fully charged even came up with a warning triangle with a thermometer in it. I used a power bank and put both in my inside coat pocket so it would charge.

Cannot thank Danny enough it was a great outing brilliant sky for future reference I need better socks to keep the heat in and wear more layers especially on my legs, apart from the 3hr journey time with the M56 being closed stuck in the traffic for an hour and a half it was brilliant. Great company with Danny and Paul that camera mount was brilliant if I get into astrophotography I will be getting one.

  2. Got these today for the 10" but unfortunately they are not long enough I ordered 20mm as that was the length of the original ones but I never took account of the 3/4mm they went in the holder.

Now sent for 30mm ones if anyone could use these let me know.

It’s an interesting one to ponder. I guess the idea of dark adaptation being only rods is an oversimplification. After all, I see a green hue to the Orion Nebula and many planetary nebula have a bit of colour to them too. Some cones must be active for this.

Yes I see the green hue and see a blue hue in the ring nebula.

  4. Well as the magazine has not turned up I phoned today, they took the money out on the 11th 3 days after I ordered it lady on the phone said sorry we dont have that issue have you been refunded a couple of days later, no I said she said can I put you on hold for a minute came back and said she has escalated it and they would be in touch. I am only leaving it until next Tuesday then I am phoning again fuming here if they did not have the magazine why take the money.

  5. Get yourself these use the front of the trunking wrap it around the ota then make a jubilee clip up.

Make two and put one on the outside of your rings.

You can then leave your rings loose and rotate the ota so the focuser is in a better position by doing this the ota cannot slip out of the rings and keeps balance.

    Hope this helps

I got the Skywatcher collimator from a reputable telescope store, for that very same reason.

I got mine from a reputable dealer but it was out not saying yours is but better to check. If you do a search on here plenty of members will say the say thing.

Just put it in the scope and turn it 360° and watch if the dot does not move.

I wanted a waterproof cover for this scope to take with me to Kelling.  After much searching on SGL and Amazon, I found this on the latter.  Apologies if someone else has suggested it, and I missed your post.

It looked to be the right size and a reasonable spec, and an even more reasonable price at £14.95 !!  I ordered it last night, around  10pm and it arrived mid-morning today.

I'm familiar with the Oxford material, having used other covers of the same material.  It does what it says on the box, and has a good but not over-heavy weight.

I've just been outside to 'try it on' and it's just about perfect.  As I hoped, it not only covers the scope vertically on the rocker box, but also with the scope elevated to an angle of around forty-five degrees.  I would think it is probably also large enough for the 10 inch version  which has the same focal length of course - and also for other makes of similiar Dobs.

Under the pics of the scope is a screengrab with the link to Amazon.  If you go onto it you will find all the I information you need, including the dimensions and detail of the materials used.  There is also a pic of the zippered pouch it comes in.

Do you think it will fit the 10" one as well thanks.
