One extra thing to contemplate if you wanted to go down the Evo 102 ‘frac option you mentioned is to get a Baader semi-apo filter to use with it. I use the semi-apo filter on some of my achro ‘fracs (Celestron Omni 120, Bresser AR-102S) and it works very well at reducing/eliminating any CA on any stars/doubles etc, and also improves the images any planets too when used.

I use the same in my Tal and the Meade when I had it very very little CA present.

@C_H if you could stretch the budget to 250 quid @wookie1965 has an excellent Meade refractor on offer! It is a bargain which makes the Heritage 150 seem a cheap toy!

It does not come with a mount, but if you husband can use a few tools and a bit of imagination, a mount is NOT hard to fabricate 🙂

Having typed the above re- Skywatcher scopes I am outa here as once again I am bound to set the natives on the warpath 😞 sighs....

PS Maybe consider purchasing a used Celestron C90 from USA, they cost around US$100-150 and are excellent scopes. Be up for import duties due to the C90's being scarce within Europe (more likely owners of them wont sell em) 🙂 PM me if you want the 'for sale' USA sites.

Sorry but the Refractor is now sold.

  3. Well first light with the 10" and I am disappointed, got the ring nebula, star clusters in Auriga and M45 nothing else because of the moon I think it did say bright moon when the app came on

App kept saying cannot find its position point to a clear patch of sky.

Packed up came in been out half hour at most I'm just hoping it was the moon and not light pollution.

Even though done my best to align it during the day had to do it again using Jupiter still objects where in bottom left and no way of adjusting the app.

I hope it's clear for you soon.  The good thing is that when you do have some clear sky, you'll spend most of the time actually observing - rather than searching for objects.  The SS facility makes a huge difference even to anyone who is used to finding objects by finders and star hopping. 😊

At Kelling I demonstrated the system to a few sceptical observers who were truly astonished how well it works.

Just hope I can set it up accurately there was no instructions for the set up of it, I have read online to set it up during the day. I would of thought it would be better on a bright star or as Jupiter is high that would be more accurate.
