I’m sure that I mentioned it to you before - it’s a secondhand £10 purchase from Gumtree. Originally sold by IKEA but sadly not anymore.

One of the best astronomy purchases that I’ve made. And useful in the house. My daughter uses it as an art stool too.

I hope that you find one. Being IKEA there must be quite a number about.

Yes you have I keep checking Ikea unfortunately not got any seen a couple on ebay similar but want £90 not paying that lol.

    As @Carbon Brush says!

I really enjoy white light solar with Baader solar film. And it’s quality stuff. Using scrap card to form the filter cell can work well. I went a little further and used a £5 card hat box from HobbyCraft that just happened to fit my 200p like a glove.

As for eyepieces. Just use the same eyepieces that you use for night time astronomy.

Love that stool I've been looking for one like that for a few months now.

The Skywatcher 200p that I flocked was a restoration. The inside had some white staining/marks (see pics) that however hard I tried to clean would not come off. It kind of made sense to flock the whole thing. The result is nice to look at and if nothing else satisfying! And I found it very easy, the extra cost minimal, so why not? While I was at it I even flocked the inside of the focuser draw-tube (literally a 2 min job as I had it all apart anyway), painted the outside of the draw-tube and back/edge of the secondary.

Whatever I did certainly improved contrast on the planets and light scatter when viewing bright objects like the moon. It’s minimal but with planetary you need every bit of help with colour contrast that you can get. Mind, I’m not convinced that it made any noticeable difference on DSO, but I’m in Bortle 7 so DSO aren’t great at the best of times.

I can’t say if doing the while OTA makes any difference compared to flocking just a small area. But would I do similar again when I get another Dob? As it turned out so well for me I certainly would!

I was considering flocking my 12” SL dobsonian but at 1500mm fl I can’t get my arm half way down the tube. I foresaw a wrinkled mess occurring so I gave it a miss.

Doesn't matter if it is wrinkled to be honest  it will work anyway..

Flock it, I think I’m going to do that, too!.

It was easier than I thought did take two of us one at the front and one at the back. Took the primary mirror out and took the focuser off but being big my son could get his hands through the spider to do it. Two roles  of flocking 1 metre long 45cms wide

  7. I was looking for this power supply unfortunately FLO had non in stock but Grover optics did and with delivery it was only £96.99.

Bought it on Sunday received notification they were preparing it to be shipped yesterday, today about 4.30pm knock on the door it was the parcel.

Packaged very good brand new in a sealed box  but the service was excellent and the communication was the same I would use these again.

I'm really quite tempted to try one of those 🙂

I used it on the moon last night just the edge but the view of the craters as I went higher mag was brilliant there was a few thermals but it was clear and sharp glad I got it now.  Tried it on my solar set up but wasnt enough inward travel I could not focus unless that was the fault of the wedge.

Absolutely, if it's just running a small mount it should be all you need. I don't think simple tracking and the occasional goto slew uses too much power, though it would obviously last longer in the warmer months.

With doing double stars I am often doing 20 objects plus whatever clusters, PN`s and Planets but I have just got one from Grover's Optics with delivery £96.99 FLO had none in stock and they are £114 to start without postage  all I can do is try it now thank you very much everyone I really appreciate it.

During the summer the LT lasts around 3-4 hours full AP rig cooled camera with charge left, during winter 2-3 hours drained completely. For alt az viewing with an azgti it'll probably do 6 hours plus in good weather, last time I did it I'd estimate up to 8-9 hours. The Talentcell is much better, can also power my gem AP setup whereas the LT doesn't power everything (cam doesn't want to come on, or mount). Dew bands are powered with their own independent usb power banks. The C6 Celestron dew heater ring will drain an LT within 3-4 hours. The LT can only power 12v out or usb, not both at the same time.

I will only be running the mount from it I have a power bank for my dew strips I dont attach Cameras, laptops or any AP stuff  thanks looks like the LT will suffice.

I have the smaller Celestron lithium the 6.1 and for powering the mount for a bit of visual it has been working great. Still plenty of charge left and you can also charge a phone or other USB device. No complaints, I use a separate USB powerbank for my dew strip, it's the Celestron Elements one and works well also. The smaller Celestron powertank torch works well for USB power also and I can power the RA drive on the GP2 and the dual axis drives on the AP with this alone, plus you get a red-light torch, neat.

I'd definitely go for the lithium tanks over the older type but I don't think you need the bigger ones unless you're powering cameras, laptops and multiple dew strips. The smaller one is fine for just a mount.

I am only visual I do take pictures but that's using my phone.

I have a power bank I use for my dew strips so you say the celestron LT would work perfectly for a good 3/4 hr session.

The Celestron LT keeps the output voltage relatively constant throughout its discharge cycle which is great for your mount. For dew heaters this is not necessary.

I do like that one but I read a 7ah supply will last 2hrs maybe less in winter so I'm trying get more info on it.
