I thought I had the secondary set up properly until I used a TS-Optics Concentre to check it. Then I realised just how poor a Cheshire sight tube and collimation cap were for the initial setting up of a secondary. Looked perfect through the Cheshire but not through the Concentre. If only that tool wasn’t so expensive but it does the job too perfection.

Harrisons is cheaper. While the tripods are priced the same 365astronomy shipping is £8.40 and Harrisons is £2.95 for express courier.

Will have to see how it handles a 10” newt. Tried the Bresser dob OTA on the TS-AZ5 and it wasn’t too bad.

Amateur astronomy is whatever ypu want it to be and can be done with cheap or expensive scopes. You can just dabble a bit and enjoy yourself with a cheap scope or at the other extreme you can get all serious with a high end scope and try to be a pseudo professional astronomer. Either is equally valid in my opinion. But what I absolutely hate is the “serious” amateur astronomers who look down their noses at the dabbler.s.
So if you want to be “serious” that’s fine but just remember that to most it’s just a hobby that they enjoy in their own way.
Time for a bit of John Mcenroe 😁

Perhaps you could find the original image posted on Facebook?

No one anywere seems to know anything about them, not just the UK. In the CN thread it mentions they were seen “at the conference” whatever that was.

Neat solution for a pier. 👍🏻
The kack of dual fit tripods from the factory is indeed a mystery. There is definately a market for them.

Does look the business.👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Certainly an impressively solid looking lump. See what you mean about it being massvely built. Makes the Skytee look a bit of a lightweight.Did they just ship the one weight. Have been thinking about weather to order one or two weights.
Would like to see it sitting next to an AZ8.

Think many of Saturns new moons should be classed as moonlets though. 🤔

The buy button has been clicked upon and one white TS-Optics 8" f/12 Cassegrain telescope 203/2436 mm OTA should be arriving via DPD by this weekend. 👍🏻😀🙂

Skywatcher EQ3-2 Tripod Upgrade
in Getting Started Equipment Help and Advice
Posted
The EQ5 and EQ6 are different fittings. You can however uae an EQ6 tripod if you get a Geoptik EQ5 adapter.
There is an an EQ6 tripod on ABS at a third of the new price at the moment. It’s listed as an AZ-EQ6 tripod but it’s the same tripod. https://www.astrobuysell.com/uk/propview.php?view=153369
Total cost would be about the same as the EQ5 tripod but you’d have a heavier duty tripod.
