  1. Hello, is there any eta on when FLO will get a shipment of CEM40 mounts?
  2. Not in that price range. The Celestron Edge SCTs have long focal lengths, are relatively light and can be adapted to a short focal length with Hyperstar. I have seen great images from them (Mars in particular). I don't own one, so my comments are not from experience but an Edge is something I am considering for the future.
  3. I am bringing this thread back from the death some what. I have just placed an order for a SM 104 ED2 and a field flattener. I am excited to receive it! I hope that it will pair with the CEM40 (also on order) fairly well for AP. I'll update with a first light review when the OTA and mount arrives.
  4. I have a similar experience as dobblob. I use an Explore Scientific 80ED, and a 6" SCT with mine and have had good results. Its just been sensible about its capability, particularly with weight. Mine has worked well straight from the box. I found after I got an ipolar and nailed down PA its tracking and guiding was more than acceptable. I am looking to sell mine, but thats only because I want bigger and heavier scopes.
  5. I have an ipolar and AVX also, as well as the polar scope. The scope is a bit awkward but it can get fairly good alignment. Out of curiosity do you find the AVX ipolar adaptor a bit loose?
  6. The AVX is pretty simple to use if you have good polar alignment. The difficulty is with polar alignment. Make sure the time and date are correct in the handset. There is a polar scope upgrade for the AVX, which together with a phone app such as Polar Alignment you can get it pretty close. 2 star alignment should be adequate for decent goto. I think there are a few tutorials on youtube as it's a pretty common mount.
  7. Just an update. I received the PPBA today together with the Pegasus Astro 12V 10A supply. Quick delivery and well packaged. The unit itself feels like it is good quality with a metal case. Just been testing it out by connecting 2x dew heaters (at full power), 2 ZWO cameras, the environment sensor that came with the unit, and my mount (both via USB and through the 12V output) . It easily met all the power requirements even when slewing. It is exactly what I was looking for. The app is intuitive and simple to use too. Looking forward to trying it outside. All in I am very pleased with first impressions.
  8. I have placed an order for the Pocket Powerbox Advance. I think the powered USB hub is worth the extra over the base Powerbox. It was a bit more than I wanted to spend but I think it will get use as my equipment changes in the future.
  9. Hello. I currently power my AVX mount with a Celestron Lithium Powertank. I cannot fault this, it has never run out even after long nights out and keeps my whole setup very portable. However, I am looking to get a dew heater setup and another batter does not seem an ideal solution. I primarily use my scope in my back garden and mains power is available. I have been looking at a Pegasus Pocket Powerbox with a Pegusus 12v 10a powersupply. This has the benefit of having a built in dew controller and plenty or power ports for future accessories. My hope is that although this is an expensive solution it will future proof me. Has anyone had any experience of the Powerbox? Does anyone have any other setup or recommendations that might be cheaper?
  10. Sorry everyone. On Sunday (when the weather was still sunny) I decided to order a Lunt 50mm solar telescope as it was on offer at FLO. Predictably the weather has turned to heavy rain with no sign of the sun.
