  1. So this is not going to happen 2022 but I can find no information as to any recalculation as to when it will happen .
  2. Yes, sorry, I edited last post but think you are right. Not sure why they would sell separately. Are people in he habit of losing them?
  3. https://www.firstlightoptics.com/baader-planetarium/baader-2-zoom-eyepiece-upgrade-kit.html Now is this a conversion option? I thought I already had this piece or does this replace the stock 1.25 barrel that came with my zoom? Confused. Edit - not sure why they would sell this if this part is included with the zoom any way.
  4. It certainly did but resolved by sliding the tube well forward. The phone and nexyz add 500g on their own.
  5. Thanks John, I think that is what I need to hear and confirm. 😉 I also take the point about stability but that also works the other way, and has done already with a need to slide the tube forward so that the manual gears work properly on the mount with the extra weight the diagonal also adds. Add in a nexyz mount plus phone and things get strained.
  6. Thanks , I was really questioning the benefit I suppose of using the 2" diagonal. Not cheap this xlt celestron one andI will admit this was a present from a kind relative who had seen a 'wish list' when I was doing my extensive research etc. prior to purchase. I still can only see that the benefits are when using dedicated 2" EPs with it.
  7. Trying to get my novice head around this one. This zoom can be used in 2” diagonal or in 1.25 with the 2” adapter removed. The 2” adapter merely screws in and over the top of the smaller one. What is the point therefore of using it on my 2” diagonal when the only light is coming through the 1.25 central section any way? Likewise if I add the barlow that is also 1.25. Surely the only benefit I would get light wise from my 2” xlt diagonal is if I use it with dedicated 2” eyepieces rather than with something like the baader which is only a 1.25 with 2” adapter? Hope that makes sense. If I have got this right I may as well use the Baader with my stock 1.25 visual back giving me less weight and an image that is in correct orientation on all planes any way.
  8. Changed my phone and went to update the app and realign. When setting location there is no option to select BST. I am sure it was there before. Instead it shows standard time zone and I have changed it to +1.0. Is this a recent change? Have others noticed this? Have I done this right for London area? Also, if I select Current Location instead of manually entering it the time zone switches straight back to +0.0
  9. Good idea though. Will play with the tube. Maybe my terminology was misleading. The issue was tilting the front down and the back end up. 🙃
  10. I have learnt very quickly now that the stock mount that came with my Celestron Starsense explorer 6” sct is fine until I start adding bits to the back end. I was starting to think that something was wrong but no. It is fine in stock mode but anything else weighty it struggles in the ‘alt up ‘ department. Had trouble again today with the eclipse using the celestron nexyz which pushes 300g plus my iphone 12pro. This is too much and I have issues using the controls to raise it. Everything else ok. Slews down fine and left and right. Is here anything I can do to remedy this so it will cope with extra weight? I think I know the answer but always good to ask. Edit - perhaps I should add, I had a similar issue when adding a 2” xlt diagonal with Baader zoom.
  11. New to this but did my best before it got cloudy. This was at 10.25 am
  12. Pretty rubbish weather here 'down south' but did get this before the current bun disappeared. Taken at 10.25.
  13. Thank you for all that but I think I am sorted now. It really is all about the eye relief distances. I actually prefer to view without glasses and adjust the eye piece accordingly.
  14. Glasses are varifocal so moderate correction for distance and reading. I also have a scar on the retina of the right eye but use the left any way for viewing.
  15. Very unusual not to get some suggestions from such a helpful bunch but hey ho, I think I have resolved the issue. I am not sure what I was expecting but this is a beginner’s eye relief problem. Out in the sun again today. Zoomed in and out on some distant trees. Focussed fine using the baader throughout the range of zoom. Filter on and turned it on the sun. Again, no focus and just a very small orange ball. By chance I swapped to not wearing my glasses and extending the eye cup and hey presto, LARGE image of the sun which I then quickly focussed again throughout the range of strengths. Such a simple thing! I still cannot get the image with the cup screwed down and my glasses on but I can live with that and practice more. At least I now know what to expect through the eyepiece. If it was not for the ability to focus on the trees I would have suspected the ep to be faulty. Saved myself some embarrassment.
  16. This novice bows to your knowledge sir. 😉 … and another lesson under the belt.
  17. Hi. I make no apology for asking this as I have certainly tried and am now stumped. My recent daytime solar viewing and attempts at some photos has been mentioned elsewhere. I have done this with stock diagonal and 40mm plossl. I have again today tried to pop in the baader hyperion zoom ep set to 24 and despite rotating focus to either end of its capability I cannot get the image to focus. I understand why and that my view will be smaller than with the 40mm but surely I am doing something wrong to not be able to focus the image of the sun. I have it located ok. Celestron 6” sct. Help? 🙃
