  2. Not really sure what that means. Do you meant the whole disk ? I cannot do that with the camera in place.
  3. Yes I get focus easily on distant land objects in daylight. Moon is a breeze in both day and night. Got Jupiter a couple of times too. 5mm? When removing low power ep from scope having located target, I drop the camera in and it is the equivalent of swapping to a 5mm ep as far as focus goes.
  4. My eclipse effort but using iPhone and NexYZ
  5. Celestron filter. https://www.harrisontelescopes.co.uk/acatalog/celestron-eclipsmart6.html Herschel Wedge. ( I am off to google that one ). 🤔😉. Edit - ok done that. Not got one of those.
  6. So it feels a tad strange posting away from the beginner section but here is dedicated to solar work. As a beginner I have been observing the sun and did quite well with the last eclipse etc. I have since purchased a SVBONY SV205 camera to use on moon and planets with my 6" Celestron SCT. Weather has been rubbish so today I have tried to image the sun using this camera and Sharpcap capture software. I can obviously locate the sun ok but when I pop in the camera - fully aware that it will be something like a 5mm ep I cannot get anything to speak of on laptop screen despite focus adjusting in both directions to the limit and ramping up the exposure / gain etc. I can see a brighter area on my scree which is clearly the sun's edge but that is about it. So, am I doing something wrong? - Clearly. Is the camera up to the task? Are there particular settings I should be applying to Sharpcap for this daylight solar work? Thank you
  7. Hi Can somebody please explain to me what the £300 difference gives you between these 2 Celestron reducers? Thank you
  8. Ah.. haha. I have literally just found that but thank you. Is that the only overlay that has the Bortle info.? Seems to be.
  9. May I ask - when I first started looking at the Light Pollution map it would show me the Bortle value for wherever I dropped the pin. It now doers not show any Bortle at all. I have played with the settings but seem to have lost this function. What am I doing wrong?
  10. I have added a simple RA motor drive to my EQ1 for some simple planetary 'work'. Should I be clamping down the thumb screw whilst the motor is running? It does seem to turn regardless of whether this is clamped down hard or not. ie I can see the other end of the spindle with the fine adjust wheel attached actually turning slowly. Thank you Edit - ok I may have answered my own question. It seems like the worm drives the lower half of the axis 'disk' only. The thumb screw is to lock the top half. With it loosened off I still cannot turn on ra with the motor turned off. I cannot delete the thread so shown it 'Solved'. 😉
  11. Noticed mine does exactly this (with hyperion zoom) although I just raise it back slightly before clamping with the screw. More often than not though I will just leave it loose as on AZ mount there will be no upside down issues.
  12. Again, appreciated. Some of your reply got a tad deep for me but at the end are you suggesting that the issue is within the ‘workings’ of the camera itself as opposed to the software?
  13. Thank you. I came across Astrodmx by accident as a result of this issue. Most seem to recommend sharpcap. Is there much difference?
  14. I should add. SVBony were pretty quick to respond. Helpful also to a point and open to further enquiries. etc.,
  15. That would not surprise me. Some of this supposed "ART" confuses the hell out of me sometimes.
  16. Thank you. Still seems ok today. Also locked on to Jupiter last night for a few minutes between clouds. These things are sent to try us.
  17. HAHA. Maybe, maybe not. VERY annoying that I will probably never know. Will delete the Firecapture thing now as I could. not get that working with this camera. Thank you again.
  18. OK, progress. Downloaded Astrodmx and have picture of the trees ok on screen using auto exposure and auto gain. Closed that then went back to Sharpcap and I now have image there too. Not sure why. I closed and reopened sharpcap several times before. So the annoying thing now is I got it working but have not got a clue how or what was wrong before. Thanks for the help though.
  19. Sorry to be thick here but which one of these do I select then?
  20. Seems like I have to download some other stuff. Maybe ascom driver but that is for the 305 not the 205
  21. Not tried other software. Just looked at downloading Firecapture but not sure it is compatible with Svbony cameras. It is not listed.
  22. No, I have been through all that. It always needs refocussing when popping the camera in of course but does not change all this colouring.
  23. Is it me or is it the camera? The attached picture is all I get now on the laptop. The scope is centered on some tree tops half a mile away in bright daylight. I have not had this issue before but despite all I try the image is all I can get. I have played with exposure / gain etc in sharpcap but no good. I thought I would ask first as I have not had this issue before and could see the trees fine before today. I am still within my return window but wanted to see if this is a faulty camera issue or just me being stupid. Thank you
  24. I also have this same 6" Explorer as my first scope. I love it but despite many attempts at aligning properly it is never spot on..I am positive that I cannot get the alignment process in daylight any better or more accurate. It is thereabouts and close enough but not that accurate 'on the night'. Always needs a tweak.
  25. So I have my camera and I have my windows laptop. Clear sky last night so captured some Jupiter. Ok so far. ( I weill not bore with my first attempts at stacking etc ). Now, being a full moon I directed my attention there. With my 6"sct , 40mm plossl and 6.3 reducer I am good to go to get the whole moon in view but as soon as I pop the camera in I am zoomed right in so I cannot get the whole thing in view. Am I doing something wrong? Is there a tweak to this? It is like the camera is acting like a 10mm ep or something similar. Planning to try again with the Startravel 102 instead but I can normally get the whole moon with the 6" no problem. Thanks guys. Edit - just read somewhere that the SDV205 acts like a 5mm ep.. Maybe therein lies my answer.
