  1. i'm just in the middle of doing a tiny crop (not much sign of stacking artefacts at edges) and a background extraction and noise reduction in graxpert and extracting stars/background back in siril/starnet++. so far, looks pretty nice to me, but i am a beginner
  2. Apologies I assumed you were trying "lucky imaging"
  3. It doesn't sound like a usb cable issue, but it's still worth checking.
  4. How many did you take and how many did you stack? Very nice image.
  5. Only carbotanium beats regular titanium
  6. Umi had me after reading titanium screws
  7. I keep looking at that juwei-17 on Ali express for £800. If it's as decent as it supposed to be it's a good price.
  8. Cleaoutside says red My eyes say blue
  9. The detail for 30 mins is pretty cool.
  10. If it ever goes in front passenger seat I hope you disable the airbag
  11. Check exposure time of your snapshots. It might be low. Also check the gain/offset for same reason The defaults are set in equipment - camera
  12. While 130pds is officially 4kg I think I'd be asking too much of my mount. So I think I need to sort a mount upgrade before a new scope
  13. sadly i think you're right. even replacing the focuser with a 2" to accept a coma corrector will be at least £50 even from Ali. assuming i can even drill a 2" hole in the tube. and then there's more and more. better start with something more suitable.
  14. this is a major improvement, but you'll fall out of your seat when you stack it again with better flats
  15. Seastar is definitely a very capable setup. As an 8 months veteran of this straightforward and inexpensive hobby, I'm glad I opted for individual components as it allows me to compete and hopefully exceed what the s50 is capable of but also allows me to get hands on with auto guiding, polar alignment and probably more, so I'd have a reasonable expectation of what's required if I ever get more expensive gear.
  16. attached is best i've managed via my 533 with a 2 panel. it was not fun
  17. i looked into a 130pds and flo website says the ota and rings weight 4kg, which means i could be do-able on my sw sa gti mount. also 130pds has a 2" focuser and has been fettled by your good self, im sure
  18. amazing image. any tips for someone trying to recreate this themselves? i have to do a 2 or maybe even a 3 panel mosiac
  19. Stars look elongated in the direction top left to bottom right across the entire frame. Dunno what caused that. In the close up some of the stars look almost donuty which makes me think focus isn't quite right? Also in first image there is most of an offset donut shape so collimation too? Like elp said thin high cloud our eyes struggle to see make images very noisy. on the upside, it all looks pretty close, so hopefully just few small tweaks?
