  1. I think my camera has slight back focus (sensor slightly too close) and a little tilt. I notice that when connected up to my scope, I can turn/rotate the dslr around the long axis of the scope a small amount, less than a mm, almost nothing. But still something. Between camera mount side of t2 adapter and where it connects to the dslr body. Could either or both of the above issues be related to the possibly lower quality T2 adapter? Could the slight rotation and back focus be possibly fixed by one or more eg 0.1mm shim/rings between camera body and T2 adapter?
  2. Well I'm gonna play with my stretch a bit more, I think I can make something that looks ok, for a target I assumed my dslr would struggle with. Will also get a lot more hours on it when it's in a better position. Your image is ridiculously good btw. Almost hologram like. I'm not expecting to replicate that
  3. I think I'm in similar boat. I'm going to do more manual stuff in siril especially single nights, while I try and learn it But sirilic looks potentially great for multiple night stuff.
  4. About 3 weeks ago I foolishly decided to do a test with my stock dslr on rosette nebula and got about 45 mins on it. I took some time processing results, which weren't great, but, hey, in modded dslr, what do I expect? After I set my gear going on trio in Leo last night, I thought I'd kill sometime and have another go at stacking and processing it, etc. I was quite shocked. Yes, it's over done and grainy and probably more bad things, but it does seem to show my dslr has more potential than I'm making use of properly. This is a mostly ir emission nebula? Maybe I've given up on other emission nebula, before I get an astro cam, too soon?
  5. My setup went well; good pa (did twice to check). Good recalibration in phd2 Gear was balanced well. I have some backspace related looking egg stars in the corners, I'm ok with that for now. Focus was (relatively) good. 2 min test sub looked good as much as I can tell from zooming within Nina and doing same on the actual cr2 file on my disk. But when I run them through dss, get scores from about 600 to 900. I've gotten 1500 to 1950 in past sessions. A quick stack looked ok, but I was a little underwhelmed. Is there anything else I can check in test subs before pressing play in Nina? **** After looking again, my subs started at in the 900s and drop over time, as Leo Triplet dropped lower in the sky. I'd still like to start with higher than 900ish, but i guess its due to more air in the way and extra LP?
  6. Not sure if that's possible. Still beyond my understanding \ abilities
  7. I like being a slight outlier. Strangely reassuring
  8. Firstly I love this image. It's gritty and dirty with the dust. It's amazing. But still detail in the bright core. In other pics I've seen, there's lots of (I assume infra) red. Even a hint in an image I tried. How do you capture the dust in so much detail and shades? Is it lit by reflection from the core or emitting ir?
  9. thanks all for your help. my post processing is a tad random. i like the golden colour on my previous image at the top of this thread, but also like the result created with all of your help More silvery dunno if that's more 'correct' or not
  10. At least that explains why a Google search of "gfp meme" wasn't helpful To be fair I've never had that full green screen as a result before, either stacking two sessions in dss or any other single sessions in siril. Thankfully I have the magic of PCC
  11. I'll give that a go next. At least re stacking now is much faster
  12. Holy smoly that did it, ty so much. will try rejecting a few more frames see if it improves any. the lack of green is purely due to my mastery of pressing photometric colour calibration. Tadpoles definately fixed by this though. not sure if i'm using the best stacking option/s otherwise, but its a really good start - ty so much. gonna re register using 2xdrizzle now i know it works and do my post processing
  13. average stacking with rejection? What type of normalisation?
  14. I have flats for each session but in hindsight the ones for session 3 aren't great but better than not using them.
  15. I messed up a set of flats I think cos lint fell from white cloth I stretched over before taking ;(
  16. Will give that a try. I rejected like 80% until tadpole tail was mostly gone. Feels like I'm almost there with the process, need better data.
  17. I also have it on my phone, so if i want to pop to the shops i can check nina while i queue to pay
  18. Ok not sure why i have tadpoles, will maybe reduce the number of frames so more bad ones are rejected? But this is looking promising. TY again, again for your help with this.
  19. Getting closer, maybe. How important are the 3 stars i manually chose? Im guessing one or more are bad choices? will have a couple more goes on different combinations of stars. 17:09:54: Reading FITS: file Test all nights PP_00061.fit, 3 layer(s), 5202x3464 pixels, 16 bits 17:09:54: Sequence processing partially succeeded, with 241 images that failed. 17:09:54: Execution time: 39.43 s 17:09:54: Registration finished. 17:09:54: 242 images processed. 17:09:54: Total: 241 failed, 1 registered. 17:09:54: Checking sequences in the directory: G:\astro\data\projects\m101\2024-04-27. 17:09:54: Closing sequence Test all nights PP_ 17:09:54: Reading FITS: file r_Test all nights PP_00024.fit, 3 layer(s), 5202x3464 pixels, 16 bits 17:09:54: Sequence loaded: r_Test all nights PP_ (24->24) 17:10:10: The AutoStretch display mode will use a 16 bit LUT seem to be getting further using a non default registration option - not the 123 star one Global Star Alignment. Or is there a better option? Registration seems to be going ok now. doesn't seem to be any option to remove the failed frames within plot. i assume they are the ones under the green curve? Goinna run stacking anyway and see what happens ignore this, rejection options on stacking tab seem to do this. apologies, i was literally follwoing line by line, but this process has definately helped me understand siril better.
  20. Those Pegasus power boxes look great but cost more than the mini pc I'd like to get I think I'll have to stick with hottible wiring until I can get a power box and mini pc
  21. If you still get choking like problem, try different and/or shorter usb cables
  22. I just use chrome remote desktop. Free and seems great
