Taken on 21/22nd January 2012 16 x 3 Min Lights Darks & Flats Camera: Canon 1000D - Self Modded Filters: SW LP Scope: SW 80ED DS + .85 flat/reducer Mount: NEQ6 Guiding: 9x50 Finder guider + CoStar + PHD Processing: Nebulosity, CS3 I had 36 lights but threw 20 out for poor star shape. PA &/or guiding just wasn't on form so this is the best of a bad bunch. -

This was taken on 28th January 2012 22 x 3 Min Lights Darks & Flats Camera: Canon 1000D - Self Modded Filters: SW LP Scope: SW 80ED DS + .85 flat/reducer Mount: NEQ6 Guiding: 9x50 Finder guider + CoStar + PHD Processing: Nebulosity, CS3 One of my favourite groups of galaxies, there are so many here! This was a quick test to see how these targets looked. Conditions weren't very good & I never got another chance on these so looking forward to trying out the ZS66 on them next season. -

Still need to reduce noise... Hmm, good excuse to get a CCD tho.. -

As always needed more data... I'll have another go some time... -

Still need to get some more time in to reduce noise... Anyway, this is it so far.. -

This was taken during January and February 2012 114 Lights comprising of 102 3 Min + 12 Ha 5 Min Darks & Flats Camera: Canon 1000D - Self Modded Filters: SW LP + Baader 7nm Ha Scope: SW 80ED DS + .85 flat/reducer Mount: NEQ6 Guiding: 9x50 Finder guider + CoStar + PHD Processing: Nebulosity, CS3 I took a lot more subs but the conditions were frustrating to say the least so I've thrown a lot away as there was too much moisture showing. I'm not happy with my attempts to process the remaining subs. Tried many times but I think I'll just leave it at this for now... until next season then... -

However 8 months on I've had a change of heart as I never got a chance to revisit. However.. There's always next season... -
I wonder how many of you have seen Julys edition of AN and gasped at the picture of the BBQ built against the wooden obsy! This got me thinking.. As I delve more into the planning of my obsy, I realise how important it is to consider the risks of Fire and Theft during the planning stages rather than as an after thought. I had a quick search through the forum and didn't find a great deal so, I thought I'd start this thread to see if we could collect some do's and dont's together. I guess it breaks down into Prevention and Detection So, how do you prevent and detect Fire and Theft. I'll go first with my tip... I don't think it a good idea to build your wooden obsy against a BBQ !!
