  1. Stolenfeather................ its 1am Scottish time and im just back in from the garden. I just saw Saturn for the 1st time and needed to tell someone straight away. :) I cannot believe how amazing it looks!! At first i looked online to check if it was visible then turned off the lights in my room and looked out the window. Turned out it was the first light in the sky i looked at, its almost like it was looking for me too. Haha!!! Set up the scope and found it really quickly, im getting better with it, and could not believe my eyes. Its so far away i wasnt expecting anything like what i saw. Perhaps i have my expectations too low but im starting to think thats the ultimate blessing. Im completely amazed and im gonna struggle to sleep tonight. Im up in 5 hours for work as it is but i think i've got a night of getting out of bed every 15 mins just to check saturns still there ahead of me. :) Hope you've warmed up a little and sorry to make this so long but it was spectacular as im sure you understand! :)

Thats absolutely amazing!!!!!!!!! I tried a camera at the lens but it all went wrong. Dont know how, dont know why. Will try again after seeing this though.
  3. I am totally hooked!!! Didnt realise how much time has passed since i last logged in here. Nights are getting warmer which is alot better but sadly the clarity isnt as good. Roll on winter nights and that extra jacket.... who needs a summer! :)
  4. That picture of the moon made me smile! Stunning!!!!!!!
  5. Yes i did!!!!!! Im completely hooked on this now. I was even dreaming about it last night. :) I've spent the last week around Orion, Pleiades and the moon. Was saving Jupiter for the weekend because its special. I think i told pretty much everyone in the pub last night and now have a queue of people who want to have a look. Now im thinking i need a date with Saturn. :)
  6. At 7.30pm tonight i just saw Jupiter for the first time.......................... :) I've seen another world!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I've seen a wonder!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    My new book!

Superb!!! Looks like it would come in handy as im just starting off. The photos of what you actually see seems genius! Good find my friend.......... :)
  8. Im just waiting on books and a starchart being delivered. Am ready to head out and have a look its just id prefer to know what im looking at. My thinking at the mo is start with the moon. I've a feeling im not going to be able to miss that and im 100% sure that when i point at it i can say "that is definately........ the moon"
  9. Oh and if anyone is in a similar situation, please feel free to message me. It may help if we stick together and share info rather than posting a million identical shouts for help.
  10. Hey, im just starting out with this and have just spent several days scouring the internet looking at pretty much every type of telescope known to man. Can anyone provide any advice on where to start? Im interested in viewing planets through a scope with detail and the ability to see rings etc. I've about a £300 budget so far, is this enough? I have absolutely no idea about all the measurements and sizes of telescopes so basic beginner advice would be very useful. Thanks :)
