GSC 1.1 for pin point

Hi All,

Hope this is not a silly question but I am trying to set up Pin Point in Maxim and it needs GSC 1.1 corrected catalog but don't seem to be abel to find it can anyone point me to it, believe it is about 300mb that is no problem.

Just a heads up, if you've never used it before with maxim, make sure that you setup your telescope details in maxim and set it to get your camera pixel scale from the fits header.

Peter, hope you get it all working. I use it in combination with Eqascom and CCD commander and it works very well once it's all setup right.

Will this work with JPG images from a DSLR?

It will work with a JPG file if you are using MaxIM DL 6 and Pinpoint 6 because this will allow you to carry out a 'blind solve' - a solve for which no coordinates are currently available.

However, you can do a plate solve on a JPG image using this online Astrometry engine.

It seems to work on version 5 as well by inputing values for the date and time in the image header.

Ie. open a JPG, go to view > Fits header and add a line for DATE-OBS .. enter UT date in format: 2015-01-15T19:07:58.910

Does not need to be accurate date, just copy and pase date line above. It will (should) then solve.
