Single frame stacking issues

Just started using registax 6 and have been attempting to stack 10-15 single frames to practice (1100d and 12 dob) but the end product is always a mess.

I'm guessing it's to do with drift from the 1st and last image.

But I can't work out how to correct for that....help advice needed.

What sort of image are you trying to stack? Moon, planet, Sun or DSO??  it makes a difference as to what you have to do.

Just starting with moon and planets...brought a Lunt so the sun next.

Try stacking in Registax 5 (Five NOT six) and you should find things are a bit easier.  Registax 6 really does not like any amount of image drift at all and will give you "crazy paving" at the drop of a hat!.

PIPP will centre each image for you (if it is full disc) and will crop the centered image as well.  this leaves registax with less to cope with and reduces the stacking time considerably.

You should find AS!2 much better at stacking than Registax. You then take the stacked image into Reg. to apply wavelets etc.

Downloaded PIPP and have now been able to stack some images .

+1 for AS!2. Note this is Autostakkert, not Avistack, which is yet another similar product.
