Astronomik CLS filter

Recommended Posts

I had my first opportunity to try my new filter tonight. I am pretty stunned at the results.

Comparison with and without the filter, camera settings are identical:

That contrast seems literally unbelievable. If I saw it on their site advertising the product I'd think it was fake.

Stunning. I was ordering one of these soon so appreciate you taking the time to let us know the results it brings.

I know that they aren't a substitute for dark skies and as sodium street lighting is replaced with a more broadband white light their effectiveness will diminish, but I think that for people living in a light polluted area they offer a very good service (albeit fairly expensive).

Good on you for posting the comparison.

i did see a simular comparison at the Astronomik stall at this years Astrofest, the guy showed us pictures with and without the filters in and looked much the same as yours, to me they looked like an unbeliveable improvement, but i have bought one and used it twice so far with good results, i must do a comparison with and without in my area.

as for price, at the show Astronomik were selling them with a discount for £113, cheap when look at other quailty light polution filters, also my filter clips in so protects the camera sensor, another bonus.

Yep, I bought an Astronomik CLS at Astrofest too, but mine was a 2" and cost £125. On their site it lists at £175.

I was using it last night and it really does make a difference.
