Advice on first telescope

Hi All,

I am a complete newcomer to the world of astronomy and would welcome some advice on which telescope to go for.

I have a budget of around £300 I would like to dabble in astrophotography nothing serious at first only have a standard digital camera but may upgrade at a later stage. I am interested in planetry and deep space objects so some advice on a bit of an all rounder would be appreciated.

Im leaning towards the Skywatcher Explorer 150P EQ3-2 does this sound like a reasonable all rounder.

For astrophotography you want an HEQ5 and an ED refractor as a minimum.

If you are now thinking of a general scope then I would opt for the 150PL over the 150P.

Equally the 150 P or PL would be better on an EQ5 at least as the EQ3-2 is at it's limit for either.
