Widefieldish of M81 Group

took the barn door tracker out today to try my hand at shooting more with my telephoto lens. Here it is M81 group with a beautiful shot of Bode's Galaxy that I'm super pumped about!

4 subs w/ 2 darks

120sec @f2.8 per sub

Canon 30D w/ 70-200mm set at 110mm

Very nice mate thats a great result. I'm finding it difficult to use my zoom what with my polar aligning not being too great at the moment. Did you crop this?

yes I did crop it trying to focus in around the m82. I literally just offset polaris through my plumbing pipe I use as scope and I get excellent results.

before i built the barn door tracker I was only shooting 2sec subs without star trails and this was my first attempt at Bode's group

really utter failure lol.

seriously, I shot it this time and it looked much like my final product in a single shot and it blew my mind. I ran off to show my wife and she was pretty stoked too ahha.

NGC 3077 and NGC 1976 would be my guess for the other two larger fuzzies that are showing up...
