my view of Saturn

My second night out with my new scope and I found Saturn in all its ringed glory. Wow ! ! ! Now I want a new eye piece so I can see it bigger. I was using a Celeron 8-24 zoom. I could see the rings and the space between the rings and the planet. I would love suggestions on what eye piece for my Orion XT8 will show the planet more up close and detailed. This night was very exciting for me.

Hi Angelika,

For Saturn and Jupiter I find powers of x150 to x250 are the most useful.

For Mars x200 to x300 I find best

I would suggest you buy a good barlow lens for your zoom that will then give powers of x100 to x300.

PS - try to draw what you see - you will start to see more detail.
