my view of Saturn

My second night out with my new scope and I found Saturn in all its ringed glory. Wow ! ! ! Now I want a new eye piece so I can see it bigger. I was using a Celeron 8-24 zoom. I could see the rings and the space between the rings and the planet. I would love suggestions on what eye piece for my Orion XT8 will show the planet more up close and detailed. This night was very exciting for me. :)

Hi Angelika,

For Saturn and Jupiter I find powers of x150 to x250 are the most useful.

For Mars x200 to x300 I find best

I would suggest you buy a good barlow lens for your zoom that will then give powers of x100 to x300.

PS - try to draw what you see - you will start to see more detail.
