Using a laptop to create flats?

Is it possible to use a laptop running say, Notepad maximised, to create flats? Would this work?

Well to be honest I am very much a newbie to it all. So maybe it is better but personaly I just dimmed the screen until I reached the values I was looking for.

And like i said it did work for me.

I put a white t-shirt over the end of the scope, doubled up and smoothed out, and then put the scope about 6 inches from the laptop screen. This works best for me. Otherwise I think I have seen some distortion emitted from the screen and the t-shirt helps to even it out.
