M81 M82 from Feb

Just got around to finishing this image of M81 and M82 I took in late Feb. Managed to get 3 hours total on it (which is good for me).

So I thought I'd throw it to the lions !!

I've previously imaged this target but not with autoguiding.

canon 300d 30 x 6min subs no flats.

Any comments welcome.

Still not able to get that red area emmiting from M82 to show though. How long an exposure do you recon. Or do I need a modded camera to pick this up ??

I'm thinking of modding the 300d. has anyone got any advice regarding this. I've also posted a question about it on the general imaging forum. Basically I managed to pick one up cheap from e-bay (autofocus doesn't function, obviously not important for me though). What are my options with mods ? whats the best route to take?

You probably do need the mod. It is very much an Ha feature.

But not to worry, this is a fine widefield.
