Sun colouring and layer combining in Photoshop

Recommended Posts

Okay I know that when it comes to making Sun images you need footage taken at 2-3 exposures for surface, limbs and prominences respectively.

At this point I colour the Sun with a yellow to red spotlight filter (which although it looks interesting, doesn't match the more professional looking endeavours I've seen on here). Prior to that I went with a simple one-tone background saturation. That wasn't particularly convincing either...

What are the preferred methods of getting it so you have a nice aligned look, the edges don't look dodgy and prominences actually look flame-like? Any tutorial links would be handy too.

Processing CCD Solar Images

The final colour of the image really comes down to personal taste.

if you check out all the recent Ha images on various forums, you quickly see that each observer has developed his/her own style of presentation. it's as recognisable as a fingerprint.

Over time you also will develop your "personal style"
