Attaching DLSR to telescope

Hello,

Just about to purchase a canon EOS 1000D to use for a bit of astrophotography and currently have a helios 6" telescope that has a 1.25" focuser. So after doing some reading I'm aware that to get the best image possible with the equipment I should maybe use some sort of adapter to step up to 2".

So if I buy this T-ring for the camera: (EOS AF)

Adaptors - T Rings

and then buy this:

Telescope House Revelation 1.25" to 2" plus T thread adapter

Would this work to basically attach the camera to the telescope?

I wouldn't have thought that stepping up to 2" would make any difference because the light is comming through a 1.25" hole to start with.

If your telescope is the older Helios/Skywatcher with a 1.25" r&p focuser there might be a t-thread lurking behind the eyepiece holder on the focuser draw tube. The holder should screw off and your t-ring will attach directly onto the draw tube.

ahh ok I just thought it might help a little.

I will order just the T-ring to begin with and see if that is the case with the actual focuser would be nice not having to buy an additional item !
