alowen
After getting some half descent binos, i've quickly realised that A) my tripod is ****, and more importantly a standard tripod just doesnt cut it.I've looked at the Orion Paragon plus and some of its (equally overpriced) mounts, which look great. Is there any cheaper alternatives?Ive seen some binos with the 45 degree eps in them which look great but very expensive.I was just wondering wether theres a blueprint as it were of a simple to make bino mount?Any thoughts, experience welcome.Al
Tac
You can start as simple as the bins strapped to an upturned broom. I personally use a Horizon 8115 tripod which is solid.

alowen
Thats just nuts. Thanks for the link though.Does anyone have anyonehave any experience of the 'Orion Paragon Plus' or similar bino specific mounts???Al
chiltonstar
May be worth looking at the cheapish binocular reflex mounts on sale at the mo in the UK. These avoid the cricked neck problem but, judging by the size of the mirror in them, would not work with larger astro binos. Anyone tried them??Chris
Andyfx
Hi,The Horizon 8115 is a fab tripod and if you contact Zoltan at 365astronomy he may be able to do you a deal as I just sold him mine yesterday!
Parus major
If you get a bino tripod adapter you can attach them to a camera tripod head and then attach that to the back end of a dovetail on a EQ mount and use the tripod head to level the bino's.
